I went to the link - I was ready to click, but I can't find where it says if it charges me immediately for the room, or just an authorization for the funds which will fall off in a few days or what?
Can anyone tell me officially have they been charged, or was it just an auth or what?

They told me that my card would not be charged until check in/out and I am able to change cards before they charge it. So, you can hold the room with one card and charge to another if you wish.

Not sure if I can make it or not - will probably try to set aside some funds if I can sell a couple of smokers. If not, I'll be able to cancel, but want to book a room just in case.

I am confirmed for the Meat Up in October. I said I knew Uncle Bob, and therefore no fingerprint was needed. I'm close enough to drive so someone else can have my third class, no starch seat on Joe's Discount Airlines and Laundromat.

texastweeter That's a really long drive for this po'boy. It would be loads of fun to have a beer or three with y'all, but TX isn't terribly likely for me. Furthest from home I've ever managed to roam in the recent past was Myrtle Beach and Branson.

Learning the ropes on my Weber Kettle w SnS. char-griller grillin’ pro. LSG 20x42 offset ordered!
I’m gonna RSVP yes! I should be able to make it based on my current schedule. I live in north Austin though, so I’ll just be driving down to meat up!
I did want to add though, that Texas Monthly BBQ Fest is the next weekend. I went last year and it was a blast. Yall should definitely consider going to that. Many, many awesome joints serving up good eats!

22" Weber Kettle w/SNS, 18" WSM, Bronco, Grilla Chimp, Traeger Tailgater, UDS, Camp Chef Tahoe Stove.
Thus sounds like just what the doc ordered. I need to get through the rest of this week, but I am going to do my best to make it. No family events on the calendar for this fall.

Take your time brother, we’re all behind you and we know what you’re going through. Just know that if you don’t make it, I’m going to personally come to Tennessee and kick your butt. Or more realistically, take a wild swing at you, probably miss, and then haul ass! …Lol!Last edited by Panhead John; July 23, 2024, 05:45 AM.

I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
FireBoard 2 Pro
Anova Precision Cooker
We are traveling now, so it will be a while before we get back home and make it official, but Lisa put this on her calendar when I told her about it. I’d say our odds of being there are 80% or more. I’ve wanted to make it to a Texas event since they started, but things keep getting in the way. This time, though, it’s looking good.

Okay, my room is booked! I’ll be arriving Wednesday, it makes for an easier and more timely flight. The Residence Inn was able to give me the discounted rate for the extra night, so all is beautiful.

Mosca If you like Indian cuisine try the North Street Curry Shop for lunch, their butter chicken is excellent plus there are several curry taco options on the menu. https://www.northsmtx.com/

I already found out 2M is closed Wednesday, so I’ll probably hit Pinkerton’s instead.
I love Indian food, but I CRAVE good Tex Mex. Seeing as how San Antonio is right in the heart of Tex Max, I kinda hafta see what’s going on there. And chili. I need to get chili in San Antonio.

Not just new places… just taking for example Burnt Bean, I could eat every meal of the entire Meetup there and still not have tried everything on the menu that I want to try!Originally posted by 58limited View PostI'm looking forward to this Meat Up. Familiar friends and hopefully some new ones will be there. Lots of BBQ places in that general area, it would take several more Meat Ups to hit them all.
I’m reminded of a tip I got from a Disney World guide book, years ago when my family was young and that was where everyone wanted to go: Don’t try to do everything all in one trip. It’s not going anywhere. It will still be there when you want to go back.
