Sad News - Our Friend @PGH_RAM Has Passed Away

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Richard "Rich" Alexander Peebles Madigan of Pittsburgh PA, better known around here as PGH_RAM. He'd been a very active member here for the last 2 years, joining up in December 2023. His username means the abbreviation for Pittsburgh (PGH) followed by his initials, RAM.

While we're unsure of the exact date of his passing, besides his obituary having been posted on August 12, 2025, we know his last login and last post here with us was on August 3.

If you'd conversed with him or read his posts you likely know he always had something positive, kind, funny, and insightful to add to our conversations. In my own personal experience with Rich he once had a drawing for a free ThermoWorks DOT purple thermometer that he didn't need, and I unexpectedly won his drawing. He gladly sent it to me free of charge, and I will think of his kindness every time I use it from now on. Rich will definitely be missed, as he has been the last 4 months already.

Oh man... the only thing I hate worse than when we lose members here is when we don't find out until way later. I know a lot of folks don't like using social media but if you had a few of us as FB friends or whatever it increases the chances of the pit learning and maybe being able to help provide support for your loved ones.

He was only a couple years older than me, and a heck of a lot nicer... it hits hard...

If anyone knows if his wife needs anything please let me or us know.
