Straight Whiskey: I'm a bourbon guy. All time favorite Pappy Van Winkle 12 year. Standard go to Blantons
Blended Whiskey: James Oliver American Whiskey
I also enjoy an occasional cigar
JCBBQ The Bronco comes with (PBC does not) wheels, lid gasket, hinged lid, side shelves, a more adjustable intake and exhaust, ability to grill by flipping the diffuser plate.....all I can think of..
I currently have a Mini PBC or whatever that little dude is called.
Walmart in Canada in they`re infinite wisdom sells the cover for this here cooker....
Cookers not available up here in the sticks but that cover certainly is....go figure.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I just told my son and son in law about this sale. Both of them have been SAYING they want a smoker for a few years now, and this is a good deal unless they are holding out for a pellet cooker or something.
If I was going to buy this thing, this would help me make that decision. I have one of those Target cards that is linked to my bank account and saves me 5% on every Target purchase. Even better deal!
Dang! I just bought one a month ago for the $449 price. Thats always my luck. But it's OK because I really like this cooker, holds rock steady and is built like a tank.
I bought one during the same sale mentioned by Jfrosty27 . I did assemble it on a semi warm day last month, but winter returned and haven’t done the burn in yet. Looking forward to it!
When I did my burn in, I did it for about 4 or 5 hours, gave me a chance to play with the vents and learn the temperature management before my first cook.
They certainly aren't going to get any cheaper than this price. I remember looking long and hard at the OJB a few years ago, but it had just hit the market and the PBC was established. (Back then, at my level of experience, I needed the countless videos of how to do stuff on a cooker I owned.)
If all I had was the PBC today? I would buy this. It is clear that my PBC will not last forever. But, I have my Weber Kettle and my Chimp and my PBC has a little bit of rust where the coating has flaked away, but not enough to justify $300 on a new smoker.
If you're new to smoking (and grilling!) and want something that can grow with you as your experience increases (as long as you don't need to feed a lot of people), this quite possibly is the rig, especially at this price.
As I noted above, I acquired a used OKJ Longhorn from a friend (will pick up Saturday). Nothing special but a much, much smaller offset than my big trailer so I can now do a single brisket without burning a ton of wood.
Yesterday I also had to buy a new riding lawn mower so there went a lot of money. I held off on buying the Bronco but thought about it all day and last night. I decided that if they were still $270 this morning that I would go ahead and pull the trigger - really, it is too good of a price to pass up.
So, I got up this morning, checked out Target.com, and saw that they are still $270 so I went ahead and bought one. I think that I now have all of the cookers I've been wanting to buy for the past several years, except for a flat top.
Done Deal! I get a Target gift card every Christmas at my job and have been saving them for several years and had enough to cover it. Had planned on a vacuum packer, but they stopped carrying the one I wanted. So, now I own a barrel smoker. Thanks for the heads up, Uncle Bob!
