I kept one from the Arkansas River this summer. I am 99.99% catch and release on the river.

Bird hunting with my youngest girl. After dinner reconditioned this old SAA holster for EDC. It's an Old Pueblo Leather EL Brown Maker.

Spent the day getting a barn find truck running to be a new Buck Wagon, tuning up my bow (missed opening day due to soccer games), CJ shooting his bow, and kids practi ING for squirrel season with a pair of Winchester 1890s. Snow cones for a mid day snack.

HawkerXP Nothing special. 2010 Silverado 1500 extended cab with a 305 in it. 135k miles. Apparently it quit running 7 years ago. House being sold. If you can get it running, take it; I got it running.

Took a breather from work long enough to send 3 arrows down range. Safe to say, at least out to 30 yds, that's a dead deer.

If you ever want a simple change of pace with some venison try this. It was first served to me by a ranchers wife near Lampasas Tx. We ate every bite she had cooked. Chicken fry some blackstrap then braise it for an hour in Campbells consommé. It is wonderful!

My eldest girl Emma is with me today hunting. She's packing her great grandfather's .243. My youngest boy and girl are with Mama in her blind as non shooters. Emma decided it was snack time, but this doesn't belong in the Show Us What You're Cooking thread. Me and Emma walked the 8 point, Amanda, Caroline and C.J. saw about 8 doe, and a 6 point but couldn't get a shot (hard to do with a blind full of kids) as the never slowed down. We also saw a yearling spike not pictured. We are currently in "meat mode" trying to take large does and mature spikes to fill the freezer. Later in the season we will look for some antlers. Now, if an absolute stomper walked out in front of me this early, don't get me wrong, he'd get a dirt nap, lol.

Congrats! Sitting a blind in the brush right now myself. Be proud of your bow harvest. Not many of us around that still bowhunt, and it ain't easy.

Came in and offered a 10 yard broadside shot. Didn't go 40 yards. Our first shotgun season is this weekend. I will be sitting out waiting for the deer we have nicknamed "Bullwinkle". Good luck to you, be safe.

30° this morning. Kicked up a doe on the logging road about 0600 on the hike in. All day solo sit. The missus and kids at the in-laws ranch for a weenie roast and 4 wheeler, dirt bikes, and go-carts with their cousins. Forgot my breakfast this morning, and didn't want to wait until the stand to make oatmeal and dried fruit, so had me some gas station pigs, lol. Have till the 1st to harvest does, been so busy with life that I missed all of bow season, and first part of rifle season. Now I'm playing catchup.

We call those (dead heads). Emma found a nice shed Sunday while we were looking for the spike she harvested. He crashed in a thicket.
