It's getting closer to that time of year!!! My new hunting boots just came in. Last ones made it 14 years. Bittersweet parting with them.

Gringo style venison tacos

Fried up some bullhead we caught, sweet hushpuppies (I like savory with jalapenos, Amanda prefers the honey sweet ones where I add caramelized onions), prepacked fries, and a handful of nuggets for one ok the kids that doesn't eat fried fish.

No longer have a dog so haven't been dove hunting in quite some time. One of THEY tastiest game birds. Used to be more prevalent here in Northern Illinois, not quite so much. Unless of course you can plant a few acres of sunflowers.

Spent the day perch jerkin' on Big Cyprus Bayu with the wife and kids. Is one of my father in laws houses. He is pictured there with Amanda and Caroline. They go hot and went inside to cook burgers and frys.

My son and I tried Dove hunting one year. Dang! Those birds are fast!

Did a half hunt today. Will post the dive poppers we are having with dinner later. Most will get frozen for a batch of orange dove after next weekends hunt hopefully. I could tell my deodorant was wearing off around 1100 as the buzzards started circling.

I have a fox 20 double as well. Emma may cut her teeth on that next year. This is a Stoger Upland 12 that I have done some work to. She is a workhorse. Originally was dads. Amanda shoots an orignal Browning Auto 5 high grade 20. Also have a Mossberg 500A 12 that i got as a young boy. Its currently in an AR stock with vertical forgrip, dual stream lights, 18.25 inch barrel, side saddle, and a aimpoint red dot. Its Amandas home defense tool for when im away on business trips.
