Rosemary made it thru the winter, the chives are blooming, onion sets sprouting up and I've put an heirloom Beefmaster tomato plant in with some basil. I LOVE your metal raised beds! That is just so permanent!

I found a company called Gronomics and splurged on 4 of their 48x48x13 beds. Bout killed myself last weekend, but I got two of them setup and loaded with dirt. I'm going to follow the square foot garden plan. My main goal is pickling cukes, but once I get started it's hard to stop. I'm already thinking about a trench row for some okra. It is such a pretty plant and gumbo is so good!

This weekend, I'm planning on setting up one more bed and mulch around all 3. Lots to do in the yard this time of year!

I have 3 little herb pots on my kitchen windowsill and some basil in the laundry room window. Waiting to plant until after Mother's Day in my neck of the woods.

I've got two Naga Vipers and two Carolina Reaper plants I started from seed indoors at the end of last year. Kept them dormant all winter long, but they'll be going in the ground in a week or so. They're mostly for fun and to bring to the guys at work, cause I sure as hell can't eat anything that hot. But it'll be fun to grow them. Basil, thyme, oregano etc going in at the same time from the local nursery.

The Reapers take forever, good idea overwintering them. I tried but my plant had Aphids and I wasn’t gonna deal with that in the house so it went out into the snow. I have another plant coming I will try again.

Yeah a friend tried growing the reaper last year, he said it was looking good, got some flowers going, then all the leaves suddenly fell off in a 24 hr period and it never came back. Hoping mine aren't too finnicky

JakeT check out PepperJoe.com on the internet, they have a how to grow video that has some fertilizing tips that I use and seem to work well. Pretty basic stuff but it all helps in the end.

It's an aerogarden (https://www.aerogarden.com/). Total hydroponics. My wife was intitially against it, since she didn't want dirt anywhere near the kitchen. When I pointed out that hydroponics is dirt free, she let me get it. It sits next to the fridge in the kitchen and she loves reaching over for fresh herbs when she needs them. It's a great option for readily available, fresh herbs...

I live in a heavy fog coastal zone but I’m hoping my herbs survive. Planted rosemary, thyme, Thai basil, mint, cilantro, Italian parsley, and a few lettuces. Also found a hybrid tomato that likes fog.

Very easy, just don't let them get too close to the window, the cold coming through can get them.

Don't know what you were paying at the grocery store for Litehouse salad blend but Amazon has it for $10 and if you're Amazon Prime free shipping. I'm hooked on the board sauce idea now after trying it with a tri tip and that has presented a bit of a problem for me from a herb standpoint. I don't use enough herbs to justify trying to grow them. I have red thumbs that kill anything I try to grow any how. Besides we have about a 48 hour growing season up here.

So I either buy fresh use what I need and throw the rest out or go with dried herbs. I have also researched a way to freeze board sauces using fresh herbs. That is going to be my first plan is to try that if that don't work it will be freeze dried and that Litehouse salad blend looks interesting.

They're ~$5.00 at a retail store so that doubles the price. Some of the basic spices I can find at a local Walmart, but not the salad blend. I travel a lot so I'll probably pick up a few bottles at a Safeway out west or a Wegmans in New York.

I am gearing up to get my peppers going this year. Oh wait......it's 10 F here with 6 inches of snow on the ground and the lakes still have two feet of ice! Nice freaking spring we are having up here!

All belly aching aside........I am going to put together a herb garden this year. I am usually just a peppers guy, but I am getting tired of having buy herbs at crazy prices, when I can just grow my own. There is lots of great inspiration to be had on this thread!

I hear you on the herb prices. I got sick of paying $2 bucks for sprigs of Rosemary when it grows easily out here. This year I planted a bush. Figure breakeven is about five months if it lives

Better get Busy on those Peppers, 120 days to finish on some of the Super Hots. I guess I should not complain about our weather too much. Snowed again this weekend but we don’t have 6”.

As you know, I cheat. I buy peppers that are already started. We just don't have enough days here to start from seed. Pirate Scott

I planted mint yesterday in a small garden that is bare. I know it’ll take over, but that just means more Juleps and Mojitos.

This weekend I can finally plant here in coastal VA. Farmer’s Almanac records last frost at April 10th for our are so I figure delaying by 2 weeks should be about right. So this weekend I’m planting.

I have several herbs and will also be planting 4 varieties for tomatoes (I love me a fresh garden green tomato), and several peppers (Serrano, Aji Amarillo, Scotch Bonnet, and 2 varieties of Hatch Chiles). I hope it turns out to be a good year.

I've had an outside herb garden for the past 10 years. I'll take some pictures this weekend. My chives, oregano, thyme, sage, savory and tarragon are starting to pop up out of the ground already. I always lose my rosemary every winter so I'll replant that in a couple of weeks. I let my dill go to seed at the end of the growing season and the seeds drop every year and it should start growing in two to four weeks by itself. I'll also plant curly and flat leaf parsley, cilantro and usually three to 4 different types of basil plants.

We had a heavy frost on Monday down here in SE Arkansas! My pepper froze to the ground, the leeks and onions are okay. The tomato and basil got bit pretty hard. Going to put in the 3rd Gronomics bed in this weekend. Think I'll plant some too. I did have some seeds planted, but they haven't spouted yet.
