Tried Tajín for the first time today....

I was curious about the hype, so I picked up a bottle yesterday at my local HEB (which for reasons that are utterly obscure to me, has it in the produce section of all places).

Wow, the hype is legit. This stuff is really good!

I made some scrambled egg breakfast tacos with it this morning and those were excellent. For lunch, I used it on a baked potato, which also turned out really good.

It's a chile-lime-salt thing and it in some sense tastes like a dehydrated Nando's hot sauce, just without the heat. The chile flavor is mild, but very present and the lime just adds this wonderful acidity and, of course, flavor.

It has certainly been awhile since I've picked up a seasoning and have been scouring the internet for things to use it on. I know one of us recently did it on shrimp and I already can tell I may never buy a box of Old Bay again.

(I also got the reduced sodium version, which comes in the smaller size, so I can go on a bit heavier without things turning out overly salty.)

I've always salted watermelon but this sounds like a great idea.

          Especially a spicy margarita!

Yeah, I don’t care for a lot of compound spices, but Tajín is really excellent.

OK, guess I'll have to be the obligatory nay vote. Don't like the stuff, threw the bottle I bought away.

Soo glad you said that GolfGeezer ! I swear I did the same thing, threw it out. Waay too much lime taste for me. Thanks for being the first naysayer, now I don’t feel so bad. 🤓

Not the same thing of course, but I felt that way about 5 Spice Powder, awful to me. Didn't get the hype. (I haven't tried Tajin)

Watermelon, jicama, honeydew with extra squeeze of lime
            rim your Bloody Mary glass
            rim your michelada glass

loves me some Tajin! I can’t believe you’ve never had it before!

Here, they sell little bottles (think airplane bottles of liquor) of Tajin and merchandise them next to the pre cut fruit in the produce department.

I don't like salt or anything else on melons and fruit. I also don't really care for mixed drinks. What else is this stuff good for besides corn, which is probably amazing? I need to figure out a best use for it.

I am the one who used on shrimp recently, in the tacos over the weekend. I love it. Of course, I live in a place where stuff like that is on many tables, it's been in the breakroom of every place I've worked for years. Good on french fries, eggs (like Michael said), shrimp definitely for tacos, although I still use Slap Yo Mama for shrimp and grits. The company suggests, in their advertising, that it is great on fruit, but I put it on lots of things.

I'm the same as you, but I do actually like this blend on some fruits. Give it a shot on a bite of somethin' and you might change your mind like me. I still prefer watermelon plain but mangos and similar a dash of tajin or on similar fruit takes it up a notch

You know what's funny - we go through a bottle fairly regularly but I don't think I've ever cooked with it. Here are the uses:
                • Rim the glass of a margarita (wife)
                • Rim the glass of a lemonade/limeade (daughter)
                • Sprinkle on cucumbers and melons
The first two uses are the most frequent usage and even then, we go through it at a decent clip

It is very lime forward, but not to the point of being overly citric for me. (I tasted some straight citric acid when I was making a lemon-pepper seasoning and that stuff is citric!)

I now (sorta) get its placement in the produce section. It was originally intended for fruit. Wild.
