"Pig Wings!" They are bone in Pork Shanks. I've made them a few times. I get them from a buddy who works for a restaurant food supplier. Great for parties

Farmland (Smithfield) has them. My butcher just ordered me some. 4oz a piece, come in 3lb packs, 3 packs in a case. Have to order at least one case. So... 9lbs is going to cost me about $68.00. I’m trying these this weekend for game day food. I see this thread is pretty old. Have you found any of these lately? Do you have a recipe perfected yet??

I'm sure these are fun but I'm going for the whole hock.

Looks like Smithfield retailers can get em.

        http://www.smithfieldfoodservice.com...ts/pork-wings/
So out of pure curiosity I went and looked at this link, and I found that Smithfield has an app. For your phone. Smithfield. Does anyone but me find that weird?

Blackshirt BBQ fibula and tibia would be the shin part of the rear leg. Ulna and radius would be forearm.

Well, I only know what I’ve been told. So I guess I was told wrong. The butcher said “Fibula”, so I’ll go with that.

Blackshirt BBQ one is a fore shank and one a hind shank. Easy to get mixed up. No worries, potato; tater. Bet they are good whatever you call them!

I've never cooked them but a local bar has them and they are dynamite. I think they fry theirs but they still were good. They also have a "Pig Wing Challenge" that I think someone from the food channel tried. I would love to try and smoke some but they are very hard to find.

Can't be that hard - I've got a neighbor with a drift of piglets that'll be ready in a couple months. Is it one forearm per wing?

I think so. I’ve only had them once. It’s a hunk of meat (about 4oz), on the fibula bone. The bone sticks out like a handle. Very easy to eat, and easy to clean the bone. A lot like ribs. One bone per piece. I don’t know how many “wings” you can get from each shank though.

My client in the Foodservice business used to have all of the marketing pictures about "when pigs fly" that went along with the marketing campaign for this introduction of a "new" product.

Since Farmland/Smithfield pulled their marketing efforts away from the regional brokers and went to a corporate only campaign, I haven't seen the marketing or the pig wings.

They were quite tasty, although, as has already been reported, they are pork shanks (the end joint of the front leg of the pig). This was new marketing for an old product.

            Best regards,
            Jim

The Broil King Signet 320 is a modestly priced, 3-burner gas grill that packs a lot of value and power under the hood. Broil King's proprietary, dual-tube burners get hot fast and are able to achieve high, searing temps that rival most comparatively priced gas grills. The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

            the good one grill

The Good-One Open Range is a charcoal grill with an offset smoke chamber attached. It is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. The grill sits low in front and doubles as a firebox for the smoke chamber which is spliced on above and behind so it can work like a horizontal offset smoker only better. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

            Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker

Griddle And Deep Fryer All In One

The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. Why stink up the house deep frying and spatter all over? Do your fried chicken and calamari outside. Blackstone's Rangetop Combo With Deep Fryer does it all. Plus it has a built in cutting board, garbage bag holder, and paper towel holder. An additional work table on the left side provides plenty of counter space.

            Professional Steakhouse Knife Set

            masterbuilt gas smoker

Our founder, Meathead, wanted the same steak knives used by steakhouses such as Peter Luger, Smith & Wollensky, Morton's, Kobe Club, Palm, and many others. So he located the manufacturer and had them stamp our name on some. They boast pointed, temper-ground, serrated, high-carbon stainless-steel, half-tang blades with excellent cutting edge ability. The beefy hardwood handle provides a comfortable grip secured by three hefty rivets. He has machine washed his more than 100 times. They have never rusted and they stay shiny without polishing. Please note that we do not make, sell, or distribute these knives, they just engrave them with our name.
