    Super Bowl LIX Food

I didn’t see any other thread about the big game…. So here we are. I like to do one dish repping each city. There are some obvious ones…. Anything out there a little off the beaten path?

and note that I am not asking if you are going to watch the game 😜🏈💕

I have a coworker who has several NFL cookbooks. Her husband is a Chiefs fan. I'll see what she has in mind and report back...

        Yep. Refs vs Eagles

For the KC dish I'll suggest you do a layer cake made up of multiple alternating layers of white and very dark (close to black) devil's food.................a tribute to the most valuable "player" for the Chiefs.

This match up bores me, from both a game quality as well as food choices. For the past few years we've been watching at home (wife and two kids) and I've been cooking foods for the games based off the teams playing. Three straight years of the Chiefs, and to make it worse a repeat of the same matchup two years ago, is making me consider abandoning that idea.

When they last met up, I made KC styles ribs and cheesesteaks. As much as I like ribs, don't particularly want it for the third straight year (Was really hoping for a Detroit vs Buffalo Super Bowl - detroit pizza and wings would've been ideal and the game would've been super entertaining).

So a few days out and I'm still not sure what I'll make for the game.

The girls have requested me to abandon the team/city specific criteria and at least make buffalo wings, so I'll at least make those (smoked or just oven baked depending on the NY weather).

TBD if I add in ribs or cheesesteak or roast pork and broccoli raab sandwich or just make something else that is more interesting even if not related to Philly/KC

SheilaAnn ; Alan Brice - I did also consider New Orleans focused food based on the above and maybe I should give it some more thought! I do have some sausage gumbo I made a few weeks ago in the freezer, so would be a fairly easy uplift. Plus you can never go wrong with some oysters!

Edit: Now that I think about it - a muffuletta would be a great super bowl dish

I got a good deal on tri-tip, so that's what's getting cooked. Don't care who's playing, or which refs are betting on the games. Also have shrimp. Odd mix.

I'll be DVRing the game so I can go back later and watch the play on the field, skipping all the fluff, celebrity trash and pop music.

I'm probably more interested in Puppy Bowl XXI truth be told.

You've summed up a Super Bowl broadcast perfectly.

We do our traditional Superbowl feast:

        Cold beer
        Chips/dip
        Deviled eggs
Steamed clams with sourdough bread for dunking in the broth
Cold Dungeness crab served with mayo.

        Go Eagles!

Well according to the Mayor of Philly, Eagles is spelled ELGSES.

It's unclear if this will hold true for other providers, but Comcast said they will be providing 4k with Dolby atmos. I recently watched a soccer game with atmos and it definitely provided an additional layer of enjoyment. Kinda like a bayleaf, when switching back and forth it was noticeable that atmos wasn't on the other broadcast.

Regardless I'll be smoking up some ribs

As I mentioned in another thread, I’ll be doing a tri tip Sunday. Has nothing to do with either team or the game. You know, kind of like most of the broadcast.

While FOX is broadcasting the Super Bowl in 4K, don’t expect much picture quality differences, this will be upscaled 4K from 1080p HDR……

As it has been in the past, the Super Bowl will not be broadcast in true native 4K HDR. Instead, it will be produced in 1080p high-dynamic range (HDR) and then upscaled to 4K HDR. This higher-quality stream will be available on DirecTV, Dish Network, YouTube TV (with 4K Plus add-on), and FuboTV. It's unclear if it will be available in 4K HDR on OTA channels. Don't invest in an 8K TV anytime soon -- unless you must have cutting-edge TV technology. There's little enough 4K content out there and almost none in 8K.

We've scaled back our 8K stuff at the University. It's clarity is astonishing, but it (currently) takes too long to process and too long to get it uploaded to servers/YouTube/what-have-you. We did broadcast one of our commencements in 8K, though....highest quality for the most boring thing you could possibly watch lol.

I'm out. Can't stand the Eagles or Taylor Swift. The NFL annoying to watch.

I do like that you are doing food from each city, that is a cool play. Burnt Ends and Philly Cheese steaks are the obvious choice.

What is your favorite sandwich spot in Philly..........Pat's? Gino's? Steve's? I used to gather late night when my brother was going to school out there and I would come and visit. Best late night food ever.

I'm with you. I'm 99%+ sure I'm not watching the game. I will still enjoy a Sunday night off work though, I don't get many of those so I will definitely cook something fun. I too am thinking cheesesteaks, but with green pepper so it's not "Philly".

My favorite when I lived there was a place called Geno's in Glenside. Tiny little place decorated with photos of Flyer's players. Absolutely wonderful.

Here's my food plan. Yes, it's a tad on the over the top side of things. But, I did invite every Pit Master Member to my party :-) One good thing is that most of this is already cooked and sealed in vacuum bags in small portions. So if it all doesn't get eaten I'll put it back in the freezer when the party is over.

            Menu

            1 Armadillo egg rolls

2 Shrimp Alfredo and Brisket BBQ Flatbreads

            3 Blasphemy Ribs Memphis Style

            4 Blasphemy Ribs KC Style

            5 BBQ Smoked Baked beans

            6 Asian Dumplings with Sauce

7 Hoosier Brisket Chili (with NO BEANS)

            8 Brat Bites

            9 Hot wings

I am so jealous. Best I can do is going out to a local place from my friends cottage to have prime rib done in an Alto Shaam on Saturday night. Gonna do some "No I won't marry you ribs" on Sunday....
