Solidified our plans a bit yesterday…

Will be my wife and sone for the evening. We are going to make chicken fried steak and mash with a cream gravy. I can’t wait to dig into this!

Will find a few movies to watch - no way we make it to 12pm we will celebrate East Coast new years!

Hunting for deer with just my wife Saturday and Sunday. Leave at sunset Sunday and pick up kids from in-laws. Head home and make a quick dinner, dunno yet. Have some bourbon or scotch and chase the missus around until midnight then she will go to bed. I don't sleep much so I'll stay up a while. Eventually fall asleep. I'll get up early new years day and cook breakfast and coffee. Then start on the main meal; venison ham with habanero peach glaze, collards with wide hog ham hock, purple hull peas, and cornbread. Probably do sandwiches or dogs or venison burgers for a quick lunch.

I haven't made a plan for NYE. I surely won't make it up til midnight, but I will probably pick up some royal red shrimp today and broil them NYE. The post season fate of our Jaguars gets decided Sunday, so I may end up just drowning my sorrows and not cooking at all. NYD all my kids will come over and I'll serve ribs, collards, Hoppin' John, and cornbread. Plenty of Husky's Shawsh as well for the ribs.

Nothing special other than combined church service in the morning with our Mandarin congregation and Chinese for lunch that they are ordering. Nothing special for dinner and going to feed at my normal 9:30pm because my kids will still be up at 6:30am regardless of if it’s New Year’s or not.

              Fried rice is the bomb.

The advantage of living in Mountain Time is that we can watch the NYC ball drop at 10 our time then go to bed. Getting old has its advantages.

I don't do anything special on New Years Eve, but on New Years day we will have a rib roast, Emeril's hoppin John black eye peas (Rancho Gordo of course), collards and corn bread. And some kind of desert.

I misspelled dessert at the fifth grade spelling bee and have never gotten over it. I know you’re not having dry, sun-baked sand as your after meal course. I promise not to report you to the grammar police, Panhead John 😉🤣

Fortunately I’m in town this year, so I’ll be spending the day with my SO and her son. Pretty much planning on goofing off all day…we’ve got the Meta Quest 3 charging right now, the golf sim is charged, as are the controllers for the Xbox & Switch. So yeah, absolutely nothing productive happening around here today, or tomorrow. LOL

Going to do a bunch of wings, and we’ve got a huge selection of cheeses & meats, and some shrimp…mostly just finger food sorta stuff. Happy New Year all!

Tonight, we’re having beef filets with a blue cheese topping, accompanied by lil taters and a salad. For New Year’s Day we’re having Cornish game hens stuffed with wild rice and accompanied by grill-roasted rainbow carrots, and a salad.

A follow up to.my earlier post. We had a great time with my daughter and family. I didn't get pictures but tomorrow I'll be feasting on the leftovers while binging on bowl games. But tonight I had the last of a Boars Head Charcuterie. I didn't want bread. So I rolled slices with provolone and pepperocini. Dipped in Ken's Northern Italian dressing. Then my daughter makes from scratch chocolate chip cream cheese cake. I already bitten into it. I think you'll still get the idea. Once again, Happy New Year!

I for one think it's rather reckless to just start a whole new year after just finishing one. I could use a breather in between.

Does leftovers and football qualify as reckless?

I’m laying in bed (after a round of brutal shifts at work and private catering) sipping inexpensive champagne and reading posts on AR.

but my NY Day menu has already begun…..

Oh yeah, and the a-holes in the neighborhood are already blowing off fireworks! Around here, any excuse for fireworks. And when I say fireworks, I’m talk at least 70% cherry bombs. Cat is scared. Neighbors dogs are popping off as well.

They did the same here in the middle of farmland central MI. I don't get it either.
