    Bread cubes, onions, carrots, celery, apple, bacon, chicken stock, butter ….. if you cook it in the oven, it’s dressing. If you cook it in the bird, it’s stuffing.

      Always called it stuffing. I lost my old recipe in my move last year so coming up with a new one. Mine is pretty basic. Bread crumbs, onion, garlic, celery. fresh herbs, chicken broth, may try some eggs too.

        I used to cube the bread a day or two before so it’d dry out a bit, but a handful of years ago I started toasting it to give it extra depth of flavor.

        36” Blackstone makes it fast and easy to toast several pounds of bread!

          Whatever it's called, our turkey dressing has to have both cooked chicken and pork sausage plus half cornbread and half regular breadcrumbs, spices, homemade chicken or turkey broth, butter, onion, celery and mushrooms. Nice and moist is the ticket, cooked, of course, outside the turkey.

            We've always called it one or the other.

            My son's contribution to this years feast was stuffing/dressing made with croissants and breakfast sausage (and a variety of other herbs, spices and ingredients). Outstanding! It will be hard to go back to other breads after that (but I won't turn down ANY stuffing/dressing).
