There are only 15+ hours until the Ten Labor Days of Seafood and Dessert Smackdown begins. If you haven’t started preparing yet, not to worry. As the name implies, there are 10 days in which you can prepare and cook your seafood and dessert. In fact, the rules are so loosey-goosey, you can prepare your cook sometime next year if you prefer. Conversely you can dig through all of your photos and post something that you cooked on your family Meco charcoal grill when you were a teenager. Hell, even Panhead John can find his best ever pix off the internet to post, no questions asked.
At exactly 12:01 a.m., Friday, September 1, I will start a new Smackdown topic under which you may post your cooks. Let’s have some fun and never, ever forget, it’s all about the food.

DaveD Wow, that’s a shame but it sounds just like what my hematologist is going through. She caught it the first time in March 2020 and then again recently. She was out for 6 months the first time and now she’s out again. Hang in there buddy, show us the stuff NASA nerds are made of!
Not that I'm counterprogramming the Seafood & Dessert smackdown, but given that I'm not in on that one, I did make some plans for the weekend. Taking tomorrow (Friday) off to pad the 3-day up to 4. This is my thread for documenting it all and enjoying the sage counsel, wisecracks, and general kibbitzing from the peanut
I will be at sea, does that count?! We are taking a cruise Sept 2-9, so no cooking during or on either side of that for me. Look forward to seeing everyone’s creations.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I am excited to watch and see what y'all cook! I'll be happy to do some burgers and maybe brats on Labor Day... may do a fish type cook on the griddle one day next week though...
