Glad I’m not a judge in this thing. Major applause to PJ for getting the ball rolling. All the pit masters who participated have every right to be proud of their efforts. You folks really know how to crank out the food and memorialize it with some fine photography.ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

The universe kept trying to kill my cook. Texas Style (Lawry’s and heavy black pepper) beef back ribs and loaded bakers. Was just going to the kitchen to mix up cornbread and dessert and noticed I had a flameout. The MAK has an auto relight, but I spent a good half hour opening the lid to release excess heat after the relight. I decided to skip making the extras after that.

that's a bummer
Bad pellets? One thing I haven't had other than 2 times in 4 years, is flameouts. Had a couple that were my fault for sure, but random ones with a clean firepot has only happened twice and it was during the daytime thankfully.

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs I don’t think it was bad pellets, it happened 3 hours in and ran another 3 hours after the relight. Haven’t torn it apart yet to see if I can see anything. I also don’t think it was a void since it wanted to run hot for a while after making me think there was a lot of pellets in the pot when it lit.Last edited by glitchy; September 7, 2022, 06:46 PM.

One of the main reasons I got the SnS kettle was so that I could add charcoal + wood chunks to the arsenal of pellets & propane for my fuel & flavor sources. Mind you, not a stickburner of course, but charcoal & chunks ostensibly qualifies as "real wood smoke" for those who want to stipulate such a thing. Gonna do my first one of those direct comparison experiments this coming weekend in fact. Yum. This thread has jacked up my motivation to do them all the way to 11!
Hell, this whole thread Goes To Eleven.

While we’re awaiting the judges’ decisions, I’d like to say a little something here. First off, I want to give a big thanks to our judges for volunteering to do this. If you think about it, they’re tasked with going through and reviewing 12 pages and 4 days worth of posts! This will have been a time consuming and extremely difficult task, mainly because the cooks y’all posted were so frickin awesome! I’m actually glad I’m not a judge in this instance. Just casually observing, I was going back and forth on all these cooks, wondering whose looked best. I can assure you, these judges are all respected peers of ours, and I 100% trust their judgement. As much as I’d like to give them a public shoutout, it’s best they remain anonymous of course.
Second of all, I’d like to give a huge thanks to everyone who participated! You guys killed it! I don’t remember seeing so many magazine worthy pics in such a short period of time. These group cooks are only successful because of y’all. Also appreciated are all the people who weren’t able to participate but still came onboard as cheerleaders…Thank You!
Hopefully this isn’t the end of our group cooks, but the beginning of many more.Last edited by Panhead John; September 7, 2022, 07:12 AM.

Smackdown Epilogue
I thought I’d throw out a few statistics about my own cooks just for posterity.
Four groups of friends were served four unique meals over four days. My pellet pooper was started up 6 times for my various cooks. Cooks 6 & 7 below were done during the same startup.- Smoked the petite filets at 200F for a total cook time of 1:26:00 to IT of 125F.
- Smoked the lobster tails at 250F for a total cook time of 1:37:00 to IT of 145F.
- Smoked the hard-boiled eggs at 200F for a total cook time of 00:15:00 to a light amber color.
- Smoked the pork crown roast at 250F for a total cook time of 5:22:00 to an IT of 145F.
- Smoked the Mac n’ Cheese at 250F for a total cook time of 00:45:00 for light smoke flavor.
- Smoked the asparagus at 200F for a total cook time of 00:15:00 for just a kiss of smoke.
- Smoked the rack of lamb at 250F for a total cook time of 3:59:00 to an IT of 145F.
Over the course of the Labor Day Smackdown of 2022, Mari Jo and I fed 14 guests and 22 people total, including ourselves 4 times, and no one went to the ER. That’s a win right there! We both thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie so evident amongst Team Pellets and felt the synergy we all brought to this competition. There was obviously a common thread among many of us Easy Bake owners – demonstrate the versatility of the pellet smoker by producing delicious, flavorful foods at multiple temps and smoke levels – and I think we did that in spades.
The good-natured jibes between the opposing groups were hilarious and provided great comic relief! I hope I gave as good as I got and was a good sport in accepting the proper level of humiliation. Humble pie isn’t a dish I relish but get served often. Thanks for keeping everything in perspective Team Stickburners.

Thank you WayneT for the recap and all the work you put in, even if I was rooting for Team Sticks. You produced some truly memorable food. Thanks also for the cooking info on the smoked eggs....i really want to try these for the ladies in the house, who love their hard cooked eggs.

Ok, so we have any results, or has it been cut to a few finalist or what? Or is there a winners/results thread I didn't see yet?
Sorry, I'm impatient. I know I'm not really in the running in part due to crappy picture taking, but we're all dying to know the results!!!

To all fellow pellet pro's I am the best in class in my trade, How ever I tried endlessly last night to get my pics from my iPhone to my laptop 2 hours later I got done then the problems started, for the life of me, I could not get them to down load to this area to show my cook. Sorry! This was my very first brisket and it did come out pretty nice to my wife and I! But I also know no pics no cook! Sorry again! However this problem WILL be fixed Do or Die!!!!Last edited by RiverJeff; September 7, 2022, 08:17 AM.

The winners are announced! Here ya go!
Wow, has this been fun! Thanks again to all the participants. I thought that instead of a “2nd place†designation awarded to sides, I think they deserve a “1st Place In Sides†moniker, along with the “1st Place In Meats†designation. Nothing changes except what we are calling it. Many of these side dishes were so outstanding I
