Are you neurotic (like me) with eggs in the egg cartons?

I don't care about how the are arranged in the carton, but when I buy eggs at the grocery store, I try and make sure that all the eggs are as close to the same size as possible.

Do you bring a scale to the grocery store like me? (That’s a joke)

I just make sure they’re not broken.

    #17
They’ve gotta be evenly spaced throughout the carton. Shouldn’t matter where you grab it, the carton should always be balanced.

What a timely post brother Scott, we are probably brothers (that’s something for you to brag about huh?) 🥸 I actually just used an egg at lunch. After seeing your post I pulled mine out for a photo. I thought I was the only weirdo.

I'm 'liking' your post and picture, but it took me a moment to realize why. The 6 symmetrically placed eggs are fine, but it's the single egg placed in the lower position that makes this okay. If the single egg were in the upper position, that would be wrong.

It's an HEB (Texas grocery chain) thing. They have blue ones, too.

Sharp eye gcdmd You are correct…. Skip the eggs came from HEB, some of their egg cartons are pink, it’s their store brand eggs, Hill Country Fare.

Troutman it’s an egg skelter. Named for a British carnival ride called Helter Skelter. We like it. Keeps the freshest eggs handy.

Those mis-matched eggs are gonna give scottranda a conniption fit. They'll never balance.

Damn. I think I really hate you right now. I didn't have this problem until you brought it up. I'm not sure I can go back to my care-free egg-haphazard self.

First of all we transfer our eggs to the hard plastic holder in the fridge so no physical need to balance. Old eggs left over ride on top and are used first, then just grab at random. You people are too weird.

That does remind me of a story however. When I was in college and living in the dorm I had this room mate. We'd go down to the cafeteria for meals and I noticed that he would get his plate arranged with each item perfectly separated. He'd then eat each item until it was gone, then in a clockwise manner go to the next and so on. I asked him is he was some kind of OCD before one such meal and he adamantly claimed he was not. So I reached over with my fork, messed up his entire plate then told him to go ahead and eat. The guy proceeded to neatly divide the mess into uniform little piles and ate each pile in his usual OCD manner. I never ate with the guy again.

I cut the lid off and put them in the dairy drawer in my fridge. So I keep them all arranged closest to the front of the fridge.

Depends on the type of carton. Most I just go front to back. However, some cartons are floppy and need to be balanced.

Something is not right. But whatever you do, don't cook them sunny side up. Unless you want them looking at you.
