That works for me. Can we move the discussion to the member meet-ups? That way we might grab a few other folks that are interested.

I'm voting Midwood again unless you guys have something new to try. That seems like the best location for us to all drive to and the food is awesome.

scottranda David Parrish smokinsteve - You guys need to storm Costco and get all the info on prime packers. I thought about making the drive just for brisket, but it's just not worth a 9 hr round trip - even with lunch with you guys.

Midwood works for me, too. I meant to say Spoon's in my previous post...no idea where Poole's came from.

I checked at my local Costco today. No luck - still only choice flats. I also checked for the SRF corned beef - no luck there either.

ecowper - Thanx again. It will be a while before I get back to Costco. It was 10 min from home, but they built a larger one 30 min from home, and closed the one close to me...

Yesterday, 3/11/17, Harrisburg Pennsylvania (central PA) Costco had whole packer brisket but only choice grade, at 4.80/pound. I was shocked at the price because the week before I saw whole choice packer brisket at Walmart for 2.86/pound. I have not checked Restaurant Depot.

I have seen that same type of price differential at my local Giant. They have corned beef on sale right now, and the point cuts are $1.89lb. The flat cuts are $2.47/pound. And the uncured brisket?? Don't even get me started.

I just checked corned beeft the other day. The package did not say what part of the brisket it was, and it was just under $4/lb.

I checked our Sterling Virginia Costco and nothing new here. Just the normal flats.

I picked up 2 Prime packers at my local store (Green Oak Twp, Mi.) for $2.99 per lb Saturday as well. I guess it's not a fluke. It's stuff like this and the Authentic Hawaiian Ahi Poke' that they fly in sometimes that make me happy to support my local Costco!

The Tukwila Costco South of Seattle (near SeaTac) does restaurant supply. Not only do they have Prime beef (which is spreading -- there was a small selection at the Aurora Costco last time I was there, including Briskets which I presume were for St. Paddy's day corning), they also have case pricing, which is somewhat less than individual package pricing. If you happen to need an entire case of, say, boneless beef short ribs, or pork butt, or top sirloin, or tenderloin. I love going there :-). Oh, and if you want goat cubes, entire lambs, or pigs ready to put on a spit, they've got those too.

EvanRobinson - would you mind checking on prime whole brisket for me next time you go please?

How many in a case, and/or approx weight per case.
Price per lb by the case
Any other info your local Costco employee thinks might be helpful for me to give my local Costco rep.

ecowper posted the ordering info for one brisket: "Brisket whole prime commodity", but they are special order items on the East coast, so I'd like all the info I can get for when I go back to Costco. Some in the meat area are unwilling to help, so I'm going to try to contact the purchasing agent, and I want it to be as easy for him as I can make it.
BTW - I have been told that the local Costco can't get whole prime briskets at all and that they can if I order a whole case. If I have to buy a whole case, I will post that on AR to see if I can get enough people interested in splitting a case with me.

according to my Costco guy, you should only need to tell your local Costco that you want a case of the specific individual brisket that he gave you. Also, kind of surprised Central VA ends up in the East Coast on that.

If you have access to the costco business center (restaurant version of the regular costco) they have briskets down to $2.29 a lb.

clkq4 - I need to take a lens to the Canon repair facility in NN. It may now be sooner than later. google sez it's about 1 hour and 20 minutes from my house, but I'm still going to see if my local Costco will get some first.
