Well ding dang Troutman , I’m older than you. Who’d a thunk it. Whilst we’re on the subject of cookin, somebody mentioned shrimp early in this here musin. Think it may have been PJ. And I just pulled a pound of Galveston’s best shrimp out of the freezer since I would be lightin up the Barby this Sat. Surf ‘N Turf it will be. Saturday is fast approaching.

Troutman Happy Birthday! This way you know it's done right. I always cook my own steak for my birthday. Who else could do it better?

Hey Troutman I enjoy cooking (on the grill!) for my birthday. My wife hates cooking in general, so can't comprehend I would rather hang by the pool with steak or ribs and a beer in hand on my birthday in August, than go out to some restaurant.

No question that our at-home steaks are better than damn near any restaurant anymore. Especially with high-quality meat. I can't see ordering a steak at a restaurant again...

I remember that! And thanks again. The cooks that you and others did for me were so heartening during those bleak days of recovery from my accident.

Big EDIT: I realized that, in light of the ambiguity about the exact name of the national day we are celebrating, I needed to make some PRIME RIBeyes, not Choice. So I've swapped out the pair of Primes I have with the Angus I'd taken out half an hour before, and have replaced my original pic.

Got these here Prime ribeyes out of the chestie this afternoon... Just got my second shingles vaccine shot this afternoon and it's already kicking my butt, so hopefully I'll be ambulatory on Saturday...!

Panhead John if I drank Coors Lite or for that matter, PBR, I wouldn't need any vaccines. The stuff would kill any virus.

Sorry guys &gals, the weather was beautiful at the RC camp today and temptation got the best of me 😁. Wibeye went into the travel sous vide till 120° and then on the SNS travel kettle till 130°. Sided with spinach salad topped with carrots & blueberries from the home patch. All is good in Americus Georgia! May just have to go into town to find another wibeye…..

Just picked up my entry for FireMan ‘s as yet to be named, Wibeye Steak Day cook. Prime Tomahawk Ribeye, 2 1/2” thick and 2.35 lbs. I “might” have some of it leftover for something else the next day. HEB cut it fresh for me while I waited. Love me some HEB!

Turns out my wife is going to Minnesota tomorrow to watch a hockey game and go to a flower festival. I'm not cooking ribeye when she's not there, so I'm moving our observance of the day to Sunday.
