So, what is on your menu for Father's Day and are you cooking\smoking it yourself?
I'm smoking a whole Costco Prime Packer, Corn Bread Casserole, coleslaw and beans.
Not sure if I'm cooking anything or not, but weather willing I plan on hitting up our local Juneteenth thing our city is putting on, last year looked amazing food wise we just wandered over too late and they were all wrapping up. Still got some home made rubs and sweets, just missed out on the hot fresh food so hoping to rectify that this year... doesn't hurt that it's across the street from my favorite bar
Huskee yeah I'm hoping the weather holds out, worst case I can sit on the patio of the bar and enjoy the music but I really wanna check out the food since some of the vendors aren't regulars to our downtown.
I picked up some Prairie Fresh baby back ribs a few weeks ago when they were on sale at our Mariano’s. I’m smoking them on Saturday; one my SNS and the other probably on my Silverbac. I ended up buying the travel SNS too so I’m going to break that in with something. Thinking about making a batch of home brew too since the weather looks nice.

My wife calls me "Teddy" and I call her "Princess" and that's where "mrteddyprincess" comes from.
I feel bad about posting in the beef discussion that I'm going to cook 22 lbs of chicken on Father's Day, but the baked beans I'm making will have burnt ends brisket bits in them, so there's my beef. :-) Happy Father's Day!
Road trip to Cleveland for the long weekend. between 2 of my Brother-In -Laws , we will cook something on a Okie Joe Highlander or a Kamado...not sure what the plan is. I plan to smoke a turkey next week
My wife’s birthday is on the 19th and she has requested burgers. I am doing a custom blend with some brisket trimmings and may add some smash burgers to the mix.
This is my day and I've got it planned. Got the kids for lunch before my girls head off to work in the evening (they both work at a restaurant) and my son heads over to his girlfriend's house for dinner.
I am making lobster rolls (butter/mayo) and served with potato salad and homemade quick clam chowder. Peasy peasy. After lunch, I put the kids to work. Son up on the BBQ pergola replacing the sun screen mesh and the girls putting up metal art on my BBQ area fence. So I've completed the Father's day trifecta:
No food plans yet, but we’re planning to spend the day with my wife’s dad. What’s funny is that he and I do most of the cooking for our respective families. Every birthday and Father’s Day my wife and her mom wants to do the cooking and us just relax.
What follows is a quick conversation that starts and ends with them asking us what we want…and it’s always something we make.
I haven’t taken anything out of the freezer yet. I’m thinking of trying a smoked N.Y. Strip. I never smoked one before. But I’m liking the idea of smoking a steak to 120F and then searing the heck out of it on the Napoleon’s infrared burner.
Either that or heat up some frozen pulled pork. Or maybe brisket chili. Oy, decisions, decisions.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
My wife wants me to let her and the kids do the cooking, or go out. She doesn't get that I *LIKE* cooking. Right now I think we are seeing most of the kids tomorrow (Saturday) due to conflicts with other families and fathers. That's fine - gives me time to go visit my own dad on Sunday. Thinking pool day tomorrow, and have my son, who just got into pizza making, make pizza for us on my Performer. He has a kettle, so I figure if I talk him through the setup on the Performer here, he can see how to do wood fired pizzas on his own kettle at home, instead of inside in the oven.
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
