It's been a while since I posted but here's what I've tried and my impressions:

Lotta Bull: I ordered 3 bottles. Too sweet and they were poorly packed in a USPS medium flat-rate box, I received 2 whole bottles and a sticky mess of cardboard, high-fructose corn syrup and glass. Pass.

Black Swan: Good flavor but awfully sweet for my taste. Pass.

Carolina Treet: I don't know what they put in this but it's in the top 3 of the nastiest stuff I've put in my mouth. There are obviously people who love it or they wouldn't be in business, but I'm definitely not one of them. YMMV, try before you buy in quantity.

My new favorite for sweet sauce is Bill's Best Original, pleasantly surprising taste, sweet but not too much so and organic to boot. Will buy again.

Second choice for sweet sauce is Charlie Virgoe's Rendezvous Ribs Original. Really good! Not organic by any means but HFCS doesn't hurt in small quantities and the taste is excellent. Will buy again.

My favorite vinegar/tomato sauce is still Johnny Harris, I cut it with about 1/4 lemon juice for a mop and I can buy it at Kroger. I'm still a big fan of Pappy's XXX, it's kind of an in-the-middle solution with a nice kick and great on pork. And I like the Bill's Best for a sweet sauce.

    Just my thoughts,
    Bill

I found this at Whole Foods a few years ago, but bow get it for a few buck more on Amazon. Teta foods Shish Tawook Marinade.

I have a fancy new phone that does weird things when I used the "Food" mode. I tried to tone it down in Photoshop.

King's Taste from Eustice, FL. I also like Malcolm's Vinegar Hog sauce. Other than that, I can't name a commercial sauce I'm crazy about. Then again, I don't use much sauce and tend to make my own.

My fave vinegar based sauce, spectacular on pork, is Tim-Buck’s. Really good stuff on pulled pork. I have tried Malcolm’s Vinegar Sauce, and honestly, it does not compare, as much as I appreciate Malcolm and am thankful for his informative videos, just my opinion on these particular sauces. Problem is, Tim-Buck’s is only sold retail locally in eastern NC, otherwise shipping costs are so high that you really need to buy a whole case of 12 to make the economics work. I did in fact buy a case a couple years ago, but now I’m down to my last bottle . Guess it’s time to spring for another.

Most don’t understand because it is so new to them, but white sauce is standard.

It has its place in the bbq lexicon, particularly on chicken. If I’m cooking a yard bird, it will be dressed with Big Bob’s white sauce. It is the walking dog, the bell cow, the cornerstone, the starting point. All that said, Big Bob’s BBQ white sauce is a must in my repertoire.

We buy Lillie’s Hot Smokey sauce by the gallon from Lillie’s.com and use it on the turkey breasts I smoke for lunches. It’s a slightly spicy Memphis style sauce. Even my sister who doesn’t like a lot of spice mooches squeeze bottles full of it. My favorite sauce for pulled pork is also from Lillie. It’s the ENC, a spicy, vinegar based eastern North Carolina style sauce.

Thus concludes this commercial for Chicago-based barbecue products.

Thanks Donw Ya know that technical stuff, it’s beyond us old farts. Or else I just screwed up. Either way, thanks for catching and fixing it.

For truly commercial mass production bbq sauce, my fave is Stubbs Original. Not overly sweet and a tasty spice blend. Goes well on anything.

When I use sauce, I'm stuck on Blues Hog Smokey Mountain for most everything, but for pork, I'm a Dreamland gal.

Lately we have taken a liking to Meat Mitch WHOMP! competition sauce. You gotta love his humor too. This is on the side of the bottle:
"Meat Mitch Competition WHOMP! BBQ Sauce GLUTEN FREE SO GOOD, IT'LL MAKE YOU SQUEAL! SHE'S SWEET WITH HEAT, PODS! When in doubt, JUST ADD SAUCE! Use it for ribs, steak, brisket, pork, foie gras, chicken, 9 irons, eggs, chili, your mother-in-law, use it to water flowers."

That’s a really good one! We have both Meat Mitch WHOMP! and Meat Mitch Naked in our local grocery. They’re both very tasty.
