    Vary nice Jim. Almost done

Damn, Jim. Excuse my language, but... damn!

I have been tardy in putting up "finished" photos, but today seems like a good opportunity. The open wall under the TV that folks had noticed as needing "something" finally got its final piece of art today. On the left is a metal sculpture of a sand hill crane family that I found on Etsy. On the right is a print we just picked up this weekend in St. Augustine. It was thrown in to sweeten the pot on a larger "enhanced" (the artist applied some bits of paint by hand) piece that now hangs in our family room. This outdoor piece doesn't have the applied paint, and so we were told it could handle the humidity of a bathroom.

Here's the cooking area now that I've more or less fully moved in. Two chuck roasts are currently in the stall for tonight's dinner with Lisa's students.

        And the wider view.

The big table is being replaced. All the furniture came from our local Tropitone dealer. All the other pieces are terrific but the table was garbage. First, one of the legs (the left one in the foreground that is behind the green chair) is bent inward. And then, within just a few days, the top, which was supposed to be a new high tech solid material, began to delaminate. A new base is arriving tomorrow and we have been credited for the value of the top. We will install a piece of granite (hopefully matching the counters) on top to finish the new table.

The outside now looks fully integrated and as if it has been a part of the house from the beginning. With all the recent rain, the sod that we put over the fill has established itself nicely.

I hope to get a chance to get some pictures this evening of the space in use during the dinner. We provide a meat item for these dinners and the students each bring something. It's a very international collection of students, so I hope to get some shots of the amazing food lined up on the serving table to show what an incredible spread there usually is.

Anyway, thanks for joining me on this journey. It's been one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had and Lisa and I look forward to many years of entertaining in this special space. Of course, folks from The Pit are invited any time they are in the area, and I hope to figure out a plan and timing for a Meat Up here as well.

Looks great. Very functional. How do you vent your charcoal/wood grill/smoker?

The smoke just rises out through the screen behind it. I also use a small fan to pull air out toward the screen from the side of the cooker that is vented.

                Wow! That is impressive!!!

As promised, here are some action shots from tonight's dinner. The stainless high top table on wheels works great for buffet serving. Tonight I put it across the opening for the kitchen but 4 or 5 feet out from it so folks could get to it from both sides. Here's part of the food. Desserts were still in the fridge.

The flow of people was great until Cashew decided to sack out blocking as much floor space as possible.
