Congrats David. I bought the Hasty-Bake 256 model last year and can't express how much I love the thing. It is at my lake house and I have a Weber Summit 670 at my in town home. I want to purchase a second Hasty-Bake 256 for my in town home as the result are so much better than the Weber.

And it arrived today. The sad news is that I probably will not cook for a couple weeks. I am in the process of a patio install and the weather has not been too cooperative. So I will just have it in the garage and will polish on it until that day..... Click image for larger version

              Hi again David,

Can you educate me a bit?

I thought the HB 257 (and 256) had a glass viewing area in the lid, yet yours does not appear to have that?

I actually like the look of yours better - is it an option to go with glass or no glass - or am I screwed up or missing something?

Man, it is gorgeous, if it cooks anywhere near as good as it looks (and I hear they are great), what a unit!

              Regards,

              Jack

jmwaldhelm I am sorry for the delayed response. You are right. I had read the glass was a bit of a pain to clean. When I called Hasty Bake to ask about that they told me that they could replace the glass with a stainless front. It cost $100 more. I am glad I did it. I would bet they would send you the front and you could install yourself.

              Thanks for the information, David.

I think you made a wise decision, an extra $100 well spent.

I personally think it looks A LOT better than the glass lid.

The stainless in place of the glass gives it a much more premium look.

Hope to hear more about it, your cooks, etc.

I was a trial member to the pitmaster club but just joined, great to read everyone’s experiences.

If I ever sprung for the Hasty Bake I would do exactly what you did.

              Regards,

              Jack
