Tending to a fire for some paella while I tend to some Cinder Dick bourbon. Neat of course. But soon to be an Old Fashion.

Richard Chrz I was contemplating a write up on my paella process that I’ve taken from various recipes I’ve researched over the years. Since you asked, I’ll write it up this weekend and post if up for you. It’s one of my favorite dishes to make, especially now that I cook it over the coals and wood chunks!

No I'm all set. 2 of these. Weather crappy, so lasagna, meatballs and chianti. All while watching HOF inductions. Got tommorows steaktips marinating.

Sipping on some fine VSOP Brandy tonight.

                Dang Skippy...

Homemade his & hers whiskey sours... Hand-squeezed lemons and homemade simple syrup. 1/3 : 2/3 mix of Elijah Craig small batch and Old Ezra 7-year Barrel Strength whiskeys.

Richard Chrz Elijah Craig is a great "I'm not sure if I like bourbon" bourbon. Very friendly, smooth, a little cinnamon sweetness, no off flavors that you can get from cheaper whiskies, at least IMO. I often tell folks to try either that or Buffalo Trace (oakier) as good entries.

Huskee do you use regular sugar or something else? I’ve found demerara sugar to make a wonderful syrup for my old fashions.

barelfly I've just been using regular white table sugar. Kinda new to the whole simple syrup thing so I haven't experimented beyond that yet

Just poured myself a small glass of Balvenie 12 year Doublewood

Richard Chrz this one is made with Absolute. I haven’t had gin in a very long time. Maybe I’ll go for a vodka tonic today? And sit on the patio until the rain comes. Sure is nice being off work for a few weeks! A rare opportunity for me. Cheers 🍸

Willard, Vodka is how my wife drinks them as well. Fairly dirty with blue cheese olives. Enjoy your down time. A vodka tonic sounds pretty awesome

Richard Chrz is yer wife's drink made with bleu cheese + olives, or are bleu cheese olives 'A Thing' that I ain't encountered yet?

Enjoying a local IPA, doing a little reading, and grilling a flank steak.
