    Don't forget the fish sauce

Not sure how the radish grown these parts compare but I can't see an adult eating them whole and raw let alone a kid.
Ours are very strong in flavour and mainly used thinly sliced in salads.
Can't recall if I've ever taken a bite from a whole radish but will pick some up tomorrow and give it a bash.

Don't forget the little dab of butter especially if they are hot.

My mom used to put radishes in every salad. I find them too time consuming to deal with traditional bunch radishes, so these days I use Daikon instead. Technically still a radish, but milder than the typical red ones and much easier to deal with. More economical as well. If you have an Asian market in your area, that's the place to find them the cheapest.

Radishes are in the kale category for me. Edible but not really liked.

Radishes--yum yum yum. The hotter the better. The French Canadian side of my family (mother's side) ate them sliced and salted on a thickly buttered slice of homemade bread. I eat them like that for a guilty pleasure. I like them with homemade hummus (garbanzos from Rancho Gordo) a lot as well. Or just washed, trimmed and dipped in salt. I've always got a bunch of organic radishes in the fridge. They're a good low cal no carb snack.

Growing up, I remember them as one of the first veggies to come up in the garden in early spring, along with leaf lettuce. We ate a lot of them as kids, waiting for the rest of the garden to come in.
