I'm not a fan of raw maters either, but love the prepared. Just made gallons of my quick instant pot marinera sauce from 8lbs of the frozen tomatoes I keep from the farm. Probably have another 50lbs frozen and more coming.

I love raw tomatoes if they are meaty and fresh, generally I do not like grocery store tomatoes, they’re lifeless.

as far as cooked tomatoes, I don’t preserve or can tomatoes as I go through about 12 - 14 flats of #10 cans of San Marzanos a year for my pizza sauce, my all day red sauce, and the creamy tomato soup that I offer out to friends.

Tomato sandwiches the best with fresh homegrown. Luckily this year our tomato crop is unbelievable the best we have ever had. Tons for tomato sauce and just having with salad. Don't forget BLT 's and tomato on top of mozzarella, basil and balsamic.

I love in season tomatoes so much, that I work year round at growing them. I need to till my garden now and get my winter cover planted.

The flavor of a homegrown tomato is fantastic.

Growing up we always had fresh tomatoes from the garden. I remember my dad would just eat a plate of sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper on them. The extras got canned and made into sauces over the winter.

I typically don't eat tomatoes sliced or on salads from restaurants and the store bought variety typically don't taste that good to me, either. At least how I remember them tasting, fresh from the garden.

Next year I'm planning on putting in some raised beds in the backyard. Will be nice having good tasting peppers, tomatoes and some spices again.

Here's Why a Tomato Is Actually Both a Fruit And Vegetable

Here's Why a Tomato Is Actually Both a Fruit And Vegetable : ScienceAlert

No food straddles the line between fruit and vegetable more famously than the tomato.

And while your elementary-school teacher or know-it-all friend may have informed you that tomatoes are technically fruits, the answer isn't so clear-cut. In reality, tomatoes are both fruits and vegetables at the same time.

The explanation lies in the two different ways that "fruit" is defined. First, it is true that scientifically speaking, tomatoes are fruits.

According to Merriam-Webster, a fruit is "the usually edible reproductive body of a seed plant."

Love good tomatoes raw or cooked as by my recent SUWYC posting of a tomato pie. I enjoy ketchup when used with the correct foods. What I can't stand is tomato juice in any form. I would love to enjoy a Bloody Mary. People who love a Bloody Mary, love a Bloody Mary. I hate tomato juice, V8, etc.

The only thing I like tomato juice in is a cold Budweiser. Even then I want Del Monte tomato juice. There was a bar just inside of Oklahoma north of Perryton that had Bud on tap and would serve those in a heavy frozen mug. That were incredibly refreshing on a hot day.

Never cared for sliced tomatoes on sandwiches or large wedges in a salad. Remove the gelatinous innards and chop them small, then I can tolerate them in a salad. I don't mind the grape tomatoes, though.

I like most cooked tomato dishes, but please, no stewed tomatoes on its own.

Up until about the 6th grade,I wouldn’t even eat pizza because of the sauce. My step-monster made us eat Ragu and I begged to have just plain noodles. I don’t remember raw tomatoes on salads and I always picked off raw tomatoes from sandwiches. Obviously, my palette has evolved, but holy heck, I hated all of it! I never knew what salsa or pico was until we moved to Dallas as a sophomore is high school.

now, I will take tomatoes anyway I can get them. In salsas, sauces, smoked, sun (oven) dried.

                      but no ketchup 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not big ketchup user either. French fries and onion rings. That about all I will use it on.
My wife and her entire huge family dump it on everything. And I mean everything. And a LOT of it. It’s really gross.

I was about 14 when we went to visit my aunt who had moved to New Jersey. She took us out to eat at a place called a “Pizza Parlor.” I refuse to eat it because 1. I had never had pizza, and 2. It had tomato sauce on it. Funny thing is I actually did have my first slice of pizza in New Jersey about 4 years later when our recruit company got leave after completing our first 4 week of training. Even then it became an acquired taste because iof the tomato sauce.

Kim cannot eat anything raw tomato. I love anything tomato. Best, love big, red, juicy tomatoes with avocado n wet scrambled eggs. Big thick slice on a smash burger. I can take or leave tomato soup. Still cannot grow my fav, but I am getting there.

Grocery store: Campari for salads and romas for cooking, drying.

Homegrown: (when I succeed) German lunchbox, indigo cream, chocolate cherry. A few years after we moved in, BF hands me a tomato and asked what it was. I ate it and said it was a tomato. 🤦🏼‍♀️ apparently, he had just found them using a poinsettia tree as a trellis. We guessed a gift from an animal passing through. Close to an Early Girl. We don’t get them anymore….

Love them raw, right off the vine, salt shaker in hand.
My better half likes them cold raw, but with SUGAR.

I can’t bring myself to try it. Anyone else?

Maybe sugar instead of salt would change your daughter’s mind?

When I was young, raw tomatoes made me I'll.

                      Cooked tomatoes only.

Now, I can eat raw tomatoes, I choose not to for the most part.

I don’t like sliced tomato. It is a texture thing as I am not a fan of the juicy goo. I will happily eat them in anything else including pico de gallo. I just had tomato rice soup today!
