How do you cook/prepare your kale?

Inspired by a question from smokenoob who asked the simple question.

We prefer the flavor of "dragon kale" (aka Lacinato kale) over traditional "wavy" kale.

    KALE + BRUSSELS SALAD

Tear kale into bite-sized pieces. Shave raw Brussels on a mandolin OR slice into shreds. Mix in cranberries, toasted sliced almonds, shredded parmesan and serve with an olive oil/lemon juice/dijon dressing.
This salad has been a hit whenever it's served

    OVEN BAKED KALE

Cut kale into large pieces. Spray with PAM or similar, sprinkle with salt. Roast in oven until crispy and snackable.

(* DISCLAIMER: please look up actual recipes for ingredient list and accurate directions)

WillTravelForFood. I love good wonton soup and bok choy!
My friends and I (years ago) went to every Chinese\ Polynesia restaurant in our area to see who exactly had the best food\wonton soup (not mentioning the 400 fogcutters and scorpion bowls we had).
We determined the best was the Honolulu Restaurant in Westborough, MA. It closed several years ago despite the hundreds of visits from us.

I will have to remember that excuse after my next physical, so that I can use it with my wife. Maybe the doc can write it down and sign it for me...

I like your doc. Does he/she do telemedicine?

Draznnl -- be careful with low-quality telemedicine doctors who say you can just use your phone for that very personal annual exam.

Not going to fall for THAT one a third time.

My wife detests kale and I’m not a huge fan but I’ll keep tabs on this topic to see if anything strikes our fancy. Thanks for starting it.

I find it best served straight into the garbage can (along with the brussel sprouts).

glitchy. You only get a half like because I love Brussel sprouts.
Can you smoke Brussel sprouts? I usually roast them with s&p and butter.

Allon I’d fully like you’re comment, but brussel sprouts. I’ve tried them multiple times prepared different ways, but just can’t hack them.

Raw, for a salad, I slice into thin strips, dress it, massage it snd let it sit. It becomes much softer that way.

We also become much softer and pliable with a good massage.

I'll try that salad! I do my own kale chips on the smoker, OG actually. Take center stem out, season with extra virgin olive oil and a favorite rub. I use a citrus chili blend. Put kale on sheet pan and cook until dry and crispy. Pretty durn good for green stuff!

We are also BIG fans of the Chik-Fil-A kale side salad. Very disappointed that they don't offer this in an entree sized portion.

Since bbqLuv likes pickles on his pizza, mebbee ya can camouflage the pickles with kale and then totally ruin the pizza.
