We just use Wrights and have for years. My FIL used to buy it by the case from a friend who owned a restaurant.

I don't mind a publication monetizing their product by selling more advertising--I get it, they are in business to make money. But selling out the substantive articles diminishes the product to the point where the product itself lacks value.Last edited by Murdy; April 24, 2025, 12:01 PM.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I used to make my own bacon, but my wife does not like it, as it doesn't get quite as crispy as store bought - likely due to the hot versus cold smoking process we follow here on AR. But the kids and I liked it. Since I let Costco lapse, I don't have a source for pork belly unless I go to one of the Asian markets. With the kids all gone, I just satisfy my bacon craving with a pound or 2 of Wright's or Nueske (from Fresh Market) on occasion.

klflowers it is very good, but I don't get it often. Last time I did it was years ago when Fresh Market had it on BOGO. Have not seen a sale on it there in many moons, or even know if they still carry it. I get their daily special emails, and check them every morning...

I get so overly tired of any "Best _" article. At best it's purely subjective, at worst it's who paid who to mention their name. Hogwash. There is no "best" anything, there are simply ones we each prefer for reasons.
Get off my lawn. Darn kids.

Unfortunately the word best in a title on the web almost always leads to an article with affiliate links to a site like Amazon or an article where the site has received something of value to mention the product. In other words most best articles are actually commercials or ads, just in a different format.

I believe that I have posted this before. Here in the western USA, Hill's Meats, family owned in Pendleton, Oregon, has excellent Duroc based bacon. I read somewhere that they process 5,000 hogs a day. That is a lot of pig.
