I probably have the dumbest answer for this - but I like both. But, if I have to choose between the two at breakfast, I normally go with bacon because... fewer calories.
My mom is from PA, but her family moved to GA when she was in her teens, so she ended up marrying into an extremely southern family. She loved scrapple and would always try to get me to try it, but I was always a bit suspicious of it. Eventually, I told her that I'd eat some scrapple if she'd try grits, but she never took me up on it.
Really depends on my mood and which one I had the last time, I would probably choose the other one to mix it up. Although the mango-habanero bacon from Wassi's in Melbourne FL is fantastic.
Looks like they’re only 20-ish miles from Cocoa Beach… Have to remember them when I know that I’m going to be working at the Cape for several days. (And yes, I’ve made a note on my phone.)

There is no winner here.
Bacon is great, and it’s versatile. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can all find a use for bacon.
OTOH, a great sausage is hard to beat…and with the variety available, can also be used for any meal.
So I guess context is everything.
Has this been mentioned before? Sausage wrapped in bacon. Wait, let me amend that: Sausage in casings, wrapped in bacon.
Though, all in all, I like 'em both. If I have had a bit of bacon lately, then I will go for sausage. If a bit of sausage, I'll go for bacon.
