This is what I thought this thread was going to be about when I saw the title. That's what we call them here in Lafayette. : )

You’re in Lafayette Beefchop ? Man, been there many times, had friends there. What a smorgasbord of great Cajun restaurants there! Used to stop at The Best Stop in Scott on my way home. Great boudain, Andouille sausage and Tasso!

I consider bugs to be the food of the poor? Interesting. I appreciate Mr. Broadbent telling me that because I wasn’t even aware...good to know!

I remember years ago walking through the open market in Korea...Just outside Osan. There were aisles and aisles of food. There were meat snacks, vegetable snacks, fruit snacks, candy snacks, rice snacks, and yes...bug snacks, grubs, grasshoppers, ants and a few I didn't recognize. After walking by all of the other snacks, why would I choose bug snacks? It's like beef jerky or grasshopper jerky...No brainer...Vegetable chips or deep fried grubs...no brainer...Nice looking rice cakes or sautéed ants...Just sayin'....

Until I read that article I had not known that raising insects/bugs inhumanely was a problem.

Just no interest. To me, I have enough other choices.

No judgment here, but my take is that life's too short to go that far down the food chain if you have other options.
