Anyone using an Instant Pot in conjunction with your grill/smoker?

I just picked up an Instant Pot. I haven't even used it yet. Curious if it could compliment my backyard equipment someway other than just making sides.

I just came across the Instant Pot yesterday. Very intrigued by them.

I have a Breville Fast/Slow which is like an InstaPot on steroids.

I've yet to think of an application where I would use both. Generally, my house goes: Spring-Summer-Early Fall: Grill + Sous Vide. Late Fall until the snow melts: Sous Vide, pressure cooker, oven, occasional grill.

Never had a Breville product that did not impress me. I've already got a pressure cooker and a slow cooker, but this could replace them both and save some room.

Our rhythm is similar. As far as the slow cooking aspect, we never seem to use it given the variety of programs and their customizability on the Breville. Great cooker!

I have something similar, a Power Pressure Cooker XL. I have to admit, I did smoke a smaller butt for about 4 hours then toss it in the pressure cooker to see what it would do. The que was edible but not enough fat rendered during the smoking part so it left too much greasy fat in the pot. The bark that had built turned to mush but tasted good. It was an experiment, one I will not conduct again. I do love the cooker for making bean soup from dry beans and use it regularly for collard greens. I turned out a pretty tasty Jamaican oxtail stew with it too.

Yeah, just made Alton Brown's New Year's Collard Greens in the Breville, and they came out great.

Potkettleblack that is the exact recipe I used last week.

I was watching some Instant Pot youtube videos, and in one they made chicken wings (the wings were cooked in 20 minutes), and then they popped them in the oven to crisp up. I thought maybe they ought to have put them on a smoker instead. I'm not sure how much time that would save, nor am I sure about the results. But it's a thought.

I put mine at 250 in my PBC. It took about 4 hrs to develop a bark that I liked. Sure am glad I tucked the cord inside, saved the plug for further use. Did the coals just like fzxdoc said to. Lacked the crid like Jerod said. It tasted like chicken.

Got a 6 quart and a 3 quart! I'll be doing pinto beans at 2 contests in November. Got a good recipe?

Got one, SWMBO is the expert. Can't think of anything where I'd use both. Seems like opposite ends of the spectrum (fast vs slow). It makes decent food though.

I love my Instant Pot. As Potkettleblack says, I use it more in the wintertime. Makes killer Indian food. Butter chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, etc.

A lot of folks do ribs in the Instant Pot (as noted on their Facebook page) and bark up on a hot grill.

I use the Instant Pot to make dishes using pulled pork or pulled beef. Here is my recipe for Instant Pot Chile Colorado: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...ker#post181363

Here's another topic where we talked about Instant Pots and other Pressure Cookers here:

            And also here:

I'll risk being ridiculed here but just had to share. My wife recently bought an electric pressure cooker. This thing puts out some GOOD food! This past

We used the stovetop pressure cooker tonight on a bottom round. Damned if it didn't come out nice and moist with an excellent gravy. Just sitting back and digesting at the moment.

Really, EdF ? Bottom round was tender and juicy? I never buy bottom round, top round, rump roast or eye of round because I don't really know how to cook them well without drying them out. So it's good to know that pressure cookers can save the day.

When it comes to beef, I'm definitely more comfortable cooking with the forward and middle cabins of that steer's body.

I'm the same way, but I'm not the only shopper in the house! ;-)

We have a stovetop pressure cooker and love it. The best refried beans we ever tasted took us one hour...no need to soak the beans overnight!

I've used this recipe at several potlucks. The office always cleans out the pot.

It's an amazing device, but I haven't found many links between the pressure cooker and the grill. Soups, stews and stocks are our priorities with the PC...

That recipe is a great one for sure! It is one that I tell all new IP users to make, it is always a hit.

I guess that's what I suspected, but I thought I would ask. As I said in my OP I'm expecting it to be great for side dishes for grilled foods.

The Breville Fast Slow is an awesome tool. Be sure to find the recipe for caramel made from a tin of condensed milk. It is the best caramel apple dip you will likely ever eat. AWESOME!!
Pressure cook potatoes and eggs for potato salad and you will e a convert.
