Glad to see that they found the source and now I am able to eat my fresh Michigan Romaine and Leaf lettuce with no concerns. I do eat a large salad for lunch most every day. This morning after the news I made a nice Asian salad with a Napa Cabbage and also a marinated tomato salad. As long as I keep away from the bagged salads and lettuce should be alright. Not sure what to do about getting spinach though.

Update this morning in the news. The FDA reported that their finding of Cyclospora in lettuce from Taylor Farms was a ‘False Positive.’Last edited by Donw; Yesterday, 07:40 AM.

I was like...there is no way this is correct. Yep, it is. Wow. All this over several days was a mistake. Crazy.Originally posted by Donw View PostUpdate this morning in the news. The FDA reported that their finding of Cyclospora in lettuce from Taylor Farms was a ‘False Positive.’
So back to square one.
It looks like Taylor Farms has had a history of problematic contamination (although I don't know if that is atypical), but still....that has got to be a near-worst-case scenario for a produce company.
I think Taco Bell comes out kinda the winner here....even though Taylor Farms was incorrectly identified, Taco Bell knew within hours where any shipment of that lettuce ended up. They seem to be on top of their supply chain.
And also I thought that Taco Bell being the primary retail source of the lettuce was strange. There simply is no way that everyone in Michigan is eating that much Taco Bell. (Or are you? Is there something you need to tell us?)

Taco Bell fan here. I usually order mine without lettuce. Shredded lettuce is the most pointless wasteful ingredient on anything in my personal tastes. A nice crisp, green, whole leaf of lettuce on a burger, love it. Shredded, no thank you.

Not long ago they had a recall on Dino chicken nuggets due to arsenic. Turns out the lab in New York had some arsenic contamination in the lab that tainted the sample.

The reporting on this is so confusing. I'm not sure if reporters were just getting it wrong or if the FDA isn't having a great week explaining things to reporters.
So, Taylor Farms is still considered to be the main problem and both Taylor Farms, the CDC, and the FDA agree.
I thought this quote from a professor of microbiology and food science at Rutgers summed it up nicely:
Full article by NBC News Health Reporter Berkeley Lovelace, Jr. is here: https://www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...eak-rcna588385“Taylor Farms is still implicated because of the epidemiology,” [Donald] Schaffner wrote in an email. “This means that people that ate at Taco Bell, and ate Taylor Farm lettuce, are sick with the parasite. It’s important to realize that this is only a statistical correlation. Correlation is not causation, but it was strong enough evidence that FDA and CDC believe that this is the cause.”
