A grumpy neighbor who was only going to buy hot dogs (and not buns) is hosting our festivities... So we go chips, mac n cheese, some weird meatball thing with grape jelly my wife does (I'm not a fan, but most people seem to love it), brisket... and we got buns. Then I'll get wasted and hope to end the night with 10 toes and 10 fingers.Last edited by ItsAllGoneToTheDogs; June 29, 2026, 07:30 PM.

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs same here, I prefer the meat taste, or a vinegar-style (pork, mainly). Less sweet, which is why I like Memphis style more.

Supplying hotdogs but no buns is pretty crappy! I know a cheapskate like that in years past. He offered to bring hot dogs to a cookout, but then the day of texted and said someone else needed to buy buns... It was a small gathering and everyone else was already bringing something. Including burgers and burger buns.

jfmorris its because we pay so much for the stuff but the people who show up don't always contribute. But we don't do Halloween on our street really so the money just goes to this instead in my mind.

I'm probably not cooking. We will likely go to the Chincoteague Fireman's Carnival, eat a clam or oyster fritter and watch the fireworks.

I have to work on the 3rd, and that's when our neighbor has a party for the 4th. It's a yearly thing, we've been going to it for decades. His pulled pork is always good, he makes his own sauces and a variety of pickled relish (with peppers), that's good on everything including cardboard, so we and our cooler, and a side dish, will be attending that.
I'm going to work from home in the afternoon, so we can get there at a decent time.
For the fourth, I'm not even sure what's going on. If I can, I'll cook something. The two younger daughter's are home from school, and the oldest is planning on being home this weekend. And it's the wife's birthday on the 5th, so that's her day, whatever she wants to do.
And no, she's not 250 years old

Gonna start Thursday with a local Texas barbecue joint ......... Edge Craft BBQ . Busting my low carb diet for this one.
Then beef chuck ribs Friday. Probably some hot dogs too, this weekend .
Just picked up a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream and some coconut rum to add to it.
Time to eat, drink, and be merry .
