I just ran across this video on pellet brands and who makes them. I thought all y'all might like to see it. It might open your eyes on which brand you use going forward. And for the record, I didn't look into the validity of the video. I've been a Lumber Jack user since day one of owning a pellet smoker.
Kirkland brand from Costco. At $12.99 for 40 lbs, hard to pass up. They work well in my Recteq and I haven’t found much difference between brands EXCEPT for the Cookin’ Pellets brand. They seem to have more flavor than the other brands but they are nearly three times the price of the Kirkland brand.
These are Pit Boss pellets with a different name. Both contain 70 to 80 percent filler wood (oak or alder). But if it works for you, then we're both happy.
Interesting if accurate and not sponsored recommendations in some way.
I have been using Bear Mountain that was one of the top recommendations' when researching the best pellets to use but that video gives me pause.
Sourcing the top three isn't as easy. Cookin Pellets and Lumberjack are available on Amazon in large bags. I don't know why BBQ Delight comes in such small bags on Amazon, and Lumberjack, has been sold and now has the same owner as Bear Mountain though so far it seems their quality has remained the same.
Yes, from the link I provided, it appears that Lignetics now owns the plants that make Traeger, Pit Boss, Bear Mountain, Camp Chef, Weber, Green Mountain, Royal Oak, & Lumberjack pellets. Supposedly, Lumberjack pellets are still made from 100% flavor wood with no oak (except their OAK pellets) or alder filler.

BBQ Delight. They make an excellent product. I started using them because they were recommended by Yoder when I bought my Yoder YS-640. I have had no problems. I usually buy them with a couple of buddies by the 1/2 pallet or full pallet and we all share them which helps to decrease the cost per bag.
Cookin Pellets, Bear Mountain and BBQ's Delight in that order is my preference although only Traeger and Webber are available locally which are OK at a pinch.
Cookin Pellets also benefit from free shipping here in the UK which is a big deal when trying to ship to an offshore island, alternatively when I take my truck away on the ferry I tend to bulk buy!
