We are camping, so we are looking at burgers and HOBO dinner this weekend. HOBO consists of a packet of ground beef with potatoes, peppers and onion cooked over the camp fire.

I've gone back and forth so many times. I originally wanted to do a brisket as I have not done one yet this year, but I haven't been able to find a well-marbled on at a non-Prime price. Thought about a shredded chuck roast, but those are now stupidly expensive.....
I may do wings, which I have not done in a very long time. But also kinda want grilled chicken tacos. Not sure....we shall see.

I just looked at HEB's weekly ad, hoping something on special would catch my eye. WOW, pork butt $0.87/lb....baby back $1.77/lb! Pre-formed ground beef 1/4 lb patties 12 for $12 (ground beef is $6.97/lb)!
I have not seen them that low in like forever. At least a year if not more! Time to stock up!
If I can snag some ribs tomorrow, ribs it will be!

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I have no grilling plans, what-so-ever! I *might* pickup something to grill on Monday. No smoking planned. And I might pull some steaks out of the deep freeze for tomorrow night.
Just been off my grill game this summer.

Had a pair of filets, last night as a surprise from my lovely Kim. She made a cuke n tom salad from the garden. Prolly the last of the cukes. Forgot how sweet a prime bacon wrapped filet turns out. When the main was done, I stretched the porkers over the coals.
Recently became a big fan of Montepulciano grape. Suuwwweeeet!
Krogers has wibs for $2.99 lb limit 5. Prolly grab some if any are left for the weekend.Last edited by Alan Brice; August 30, 2025, 06:00 AM.

Sorry PJ, I got a text to fire up the grill. From there it was Ahules n elbows til she brought the salads out.
In the process of getting the Reds, getting beaten by the Cards, on the tube outback n those quick cooking filets, nary a second to lose. Pun intended.
These are all that is left. I was able to get five racks of Wibs this morn at Krogers, $2.99l Two are salted for this afternoon.Last edited by Alan Brice; August 30, 2025, 09:01 AM.
