    Ketchup again….wtf?

So I went to a thing this afternoon for my friends new baby. They generously provided a little pizza bar. Good pizza! Not great….. maybe it’s why they served this!

I feel so confused. Is ketchup on pizza really a thing?

I could understand ranch bottles, but not ketchup…

Murdy I swear they changed the ingredients later on because I liked it okay, but now I dislike it a lot. I agree replacing a good Bleu Cheese with Ranch is an abomination!

What the heck is ranch dressing anyway?

@kflowers it is mostly mayo and sour cream with some other stuff thrown in for good measure.

My faith in humanity is regularly removed then restored. Removed when I saw this pic, restored by the disgust already expressed here.

Equally puzzling is the fact that it's SO MUCH ketchup. Someone actually thought "Nah, one isn't enough, I'd better put TWO here". Who hurt them?

Never in my life have I seen that. Maybe the host/hostess thought it would be a good sub for marinara sauce?

Well, you ARE in CA. You’re from Chicago, so at least you have a clue.

I generally don't claim CA, but my birth certificate says otherwise. Add me to the list of CA natives that does not think ketchup goes on pizza... but one of my sisters used to use it. I'm a red pepper flake, real parm, and or garlic butter kinda pizza eater.

If there were a couple Avocado slices sitting there, I would think, "Oh, California 🤦‍♀️"
in consideration of the Avocado toast obsession 🥑, and no, I have never seen Avocado on a pizza here. If that exists, I don't want to know about it.

As much as I like ketchup I have never thought of it, or seen it used, as a condiment for pizza. Yuck!

I don't know anybody who puts ketchup on pizza, not even kids. It already has tomato sauce on it.
                That is just odd.

California, home of cutting edge cuisine. Yeah, that must be the answer why. Or maybe it was just a terrible mistake by some server.

Mebe the Server was carrying ketchup btls back to the kitchen n got sidetracked to grab some pizza. In his/her food coma, completely forgot the btls n whatever else they were doing. That would be my thought process. Never thought of "K" as a pain salve. LOL

Draznnl I’m hoping against hope that it’s a muscle memory thing when setting up a little buffet.

EX: I don’t eat fast food (except Portillo’s). But I do go through the occasional drive thru where I know the iced tea is respectable. My favorite is when I am handed my iced tea and the drive thru person asks if I want ketchup/hot sauce. Every now and again I peel off the lid and ask them to just pour it in. They look at me, dumbfounded. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I was at a conference in Amsterdam about a decade ago. One of the afternoon snacks was nachos.

The nachos were a decent approximation of what we in the western hemisphere would call nachos. No problem there.

The horror was in the dipping sauces. They were, in order: mayo, mustard, and ketchup.

(My colleague, who was born in Mexico, emailed a photo to the World Court in the Hague.)

Maybe they were gonna bring out some pizza with hot dogs on it. After all, the infant has to start somewhere.
