    Your perfect bachelor/bachelorette night meal

On Friday, the wife and kids are going to a concert, which means I will be left to my own devices for dinner. No "can you make it with chicken instead" or "ribs, again??" comments to deal with. Just me and my dreams. So now I'm trying to figure out what to make for my first bachelor dinner in who knows how long.

Being it is a Friday, I have work so any long cook is likely out. My decision will probably change 15 times between now and Friday but for the time being, I've narrowed my thinking down to either:
    • Thick ribeye reverse seared on the SnS kettle with your typical steakhouse sides liked creamed spinach or au gratin potatoes
    • Homemade pizza - NY style pizza or detroit style pizza.
It is a terribly hard decision!

What is your preferred bachelor or bachelorette night meal of choice?

First thing I thought. But I’d probably get carry out from El Rey Azteca.

Something with mushrooms! My wife hates mushrooms and I love them. Sautéed mushrooms on that steak you were talking about might be nice. How about some crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer instead. My wife doesn’t care for lobster either so I could get completely carried away there! Surf and turf! Sadly most of the time my wife is gone I end up at Burger King just so I don’t have a mess to clean up. Their Texas double whopper with jalapeño is great.

Thankfully steak with mushrooms is one of my wife's favorite things I make! I got lucky there.

You could always just leave the mess for her to clean up when she gets home.
I'm sure that would go over like a fart in church...

Finster We have this deal. When I leave on a trip be it hunting, fishing , a meetup, or business I return to a clean home. No dirty dishes or clothes. I do the exact same for her. We live by the old work principal I learned early on in the oil field. “I don’t care if you do it or have it done, just see that it’s done”. When either of us gets home it’s all good. It makes that welcome home evening much nicer.

I tend to go with a big, thick steak. But I also get lazy and just pair it with a baked potato and salad from a bag. That's my compromise between something really nice and not having to put in a lot of work for just me.

You beat me by a few minutes Jim. That was almost exactly what I was going to say.

Every night is bachelor night for me, but my favorite is a big NY strip and a large baked potato. I can only eat half of each for supper, the other halves gets diced up and sautéed with onions and peppers to make a breakfast hash. Top with a couple of as-you-like-em eggs and a little cheese and you have a great two-fer!

Oh, and tune in a great old western or war movie and you'll have a nice bachelor evening.

Nicely done. Steak, NY Strip in particular, baked potato and salad. Yes the onions, peppers, etc from the salad go into an omelette, with home fries. 👍👍🎄

texastweeter did you know big nose Kate, Doc Holiday’s girlfriend was Katie Elder? Her nick name wasn’t about the size of her nose. It was because she stuck it in everyone’s business.

My wife cannot eat onions due to a diagnosed medical condition. I love onions but even when eating out and she has to order her dishes without, all servers even if directed otherwise, decide I shouldn’t have them either. I would caramelize pounds and pounds of onions and consume my weight in French Onion soup.

Liking the soup, not that your wife can’t have onions… 💕

As much as I love pizza, and love home made pizza, I think bachelor night would have to be the steak for me, with some good beer to accompany it.

My wife is off to dinner and a movie with friends this evening as my home brew club is coming here tonight, from 7 to 10, and we will have LOTS of beers to sample and judge, along with lots of munchies. I'll be putting out queso, salsa and tortilla chips, along with crackers with cream cheese and pepper jelly. I'll live on munchies and beer for the night...

Let’s see…… a night without “are you gonna eat that whole thing”?
Go to the butcher and get a 1.5” prime ribeye, fire up the Weber
A white potato (“yes I know it’s not as healthy as a organic sweet potato”)
Some fresh green beans or asparagus.
Dessert would have to be Mile High Coconut Cream Pie!

Absolutely a thick steak, cut of your choice cooked exactly like you like it, no compromises. Baked potato on the grill, whole onion wrapped in foil on the grill, the hottest section. A wedge salad with extra bacon, nobody busting them about how much bacon you are eating. Blue cheese dressing with crumbled blue cheese, maybe a dash of balsamic if you like that. Of course the beverage of choice while cooking and enjoying dinner. Settle for nothing less.

Smashed double onion burger, something easy and not too time consuming to grill.

I'd have to go with a steak - pick your favorite. Just make sure it's prime grade. A loaded baked taer with extra bacon, and, since you love 'rooms, some sauteed 'rooms.

I have a friend who recently got his band from the 70s/80s back together to play local gigs. All "older" folks in the band.
the new band name is See Alice...... (sound it out)
