    Love this idea! Fun stuff...

    I've never:

    7. Baked a cake from scratch? --- Always boxed, but we don't each much cake so there's that
    14. Made a Jell-O salad? ---- Yuck, bananas in it is enough of a "salad"
    18. Cooked a pot of dried beans? ---- Don't care for beans other than black beans and green beans
    19. Cooked a pot of greens? ---- I'm northern
    20. Made cornbread from scratch? ---- Don't care enough for it
    30. Made banana pudding from scratch? ---Don't care for it. Chocolate pudding, yes and yes!

#32 I've done plenty, but admittedly it is becoming a lost skill due to let's call it "supply chain issues" (right FireMan ?)

You REALLY need to cook up a pot of collards! I wuz a northerner in my early years, but have since grown to love collards.

Wow! Shocked, before you totally give up, get a bag of RG Marcellas. Chop an onion, some carrots n same amount of celery. (I just use the sprayer then chop from the end).
Depending on your love for spice, garlic, jalapeno, possibly an xtra stout Guinney.
Your protein options are pork(wibs) or beef(briskie) n let that slow cook over night.
I swear you will be amazed at the complex flavors produced for soo little effort or cost.

    14 no desire for this
30 not a fan of banananas
35 too much work. I did "help" my Mom make jelly as a kid
37 what's the point - grits have no taste

Crappy grits have no taste. Good grits have a wonderful flavor and texture.

I love grits. Best is cheese grits w a sprinkle of Cajun seasoning and covered w shrimp. My GM used "puts sugar in grits" as a serious insult.

    I’ve never made homemade rolls.
I’ve never made a meal for 30 or more people.
I’ve never made a pot of grits.

I helped someone make ice cream from scratch, not sure if that counts.

            1. Made biscuits from scratch? Biscuits are purely a restaurant food. Don’t ask why. I didn’t make the rules.
            9. Cooked a pot roast with all the veggies? Not a fan
            20. Made cornbread from scratch? oy vey, cornbread? How about challah?
            30. Made Banana pudding from scratch? Eeeeeeww!
            34. Made ice cream from scratch? Jeni and Ben & Jerry do it so well
            37. Made a pot of grits? As Huskee said about greens, “I’m northern.”

I don’t bake AT ALL, and I’ve made biscuits from scratch. Once, maybe twice. I did do the cake thing a few times when I was younger, I did pie dough long ago, helping my mom and grandmother around the holidays, and I made an apple pie during the pandemic.

I LOVE sweet stuff. But I can’t start baking, there’s no one here to eat it but me and Mrs.

I hear you. This list is geographically biased. I would count challah as more than an acceptable replacement for #6. Furthermore, my paternal grandmother would haunt me if I didn't advocate matzo balls as a good substitute for #26.

Heck, PGH_RAM I was already counting matzo balls as dumplings. Otherwise, that’s another no for me.

No on 21 and 30, bananas? Nasty!
And my wife makes the dough crust every year for thanksgiving but I don’t.
I used to call jello salad, jello with food in it. Disgusting! Might as well be Waldorf salad.

Well, I've done all those things... though the jello salad is a stretch since we did a giant bowl of assorted jello shots mixed with various drunken fruit. But I've at least tried and failed at worst to do everything on that list.

Jell-O shots with fruit DEFINITELY count!

Gawd, just thinking about them brings back some pretty hilarious memories.

SheilaAnn I think they would have to be mixed to some degree to kinda fit the salad part? Ours were all popped out shots into a bowl and you used a skewer to get a shot and a drunken fruit piece

I don’t think I’ve ever made Jam/Jelly. I’ll have to change that this fall, as I saw a habanero peach jam on YouTube recently that I think would be excellent.
