I think they're basically the same stuff. I don't have either in my pantry right now, so I can't say for sure.

Does it still have that gelatinous goo coating on it? That was always a big turn-off for me.

Never had spam.... But i love Taylor ham once and awhile! It's not in a can, but in a canvass bag in the refrigerated section of grocery stores here... I think it is just a regional thing though, but not sure?

Like Spam, a little bit of Monty Python goes a long way; the same for Dudley Moore.

I was going to post the same link if no one had first.

Say what you want, but Spam is still a viable food.

I like Spam and my wife freaks. I have hear that smoked Bolonga is really good. One day I'll give it a try. My wife freaks about that, too. Any testimonials out there.

I purchase Big Balonga in a 4-5# chunks from Usingers sausage from Milwaukee, slice for sands or frying, I don't have a cold smoker? Kraft did have sliced smoked Balonga

You people know what Spam is, right? Yuck. Do not want. Sheesh, and you people rib ME for eating inedible weird stuff. That goes for bologna and hot dogs, too.

Spam is also packed full of sodium, cholesterol, and saturated fat. It's a heart attack in a can.

Don't take this the wrong way DWCowles but I'd probably eat a turd before I'd eat rotten meat. Not exactly a ringing Spam endorsement but I liked it!

DWCowles did you know that "vegetarian" is an old native-American word for "can't hunt for s**t"?

Tried the Tabasco variety this weekend. Fried it up outside on the Blackstone tailgater along with some eggs and hashbrowns. Good stuff!

Love the stuff. Hell if it was good enough to help our boys beat the Japanese in the 40's, its sure good by me.

Regarding what's in Spam, biological material is biological material whether you're talking fish, ribeye, or brains. Many cultures eat what some cultures would consider gross and vice versa. If it's 'safe', and I use that word in the short-term of course because who really knows, then eat it or don't. I think Spam is good in the right preparation just like bologna or sausage, but I'd never touch puffer fish or fermented tofu with 2 ten foot poles, it just doesn't sound appetizing. I could be hugely mistaken in my thoughts though.

I say we have a spam cooking challenge. Start a thread someplace. Post some spam cooking pics. Two categories. Indoor and outdoor.

Maybe Huskee could secure some of those ever elusive bonus points to go with the bragging rights for the victor!
