I do better than 90% of the cooking. She likes to do some baking, so I've sort of ceded that to her, although we like to bake different things. She likes to do desserts, and I don't like having desserts in the house, especially in large quantities. I also eat a lower-carb style of diet, but I guess we both like to do that. She does try to help, but I can get frustrated at her pace. She is slow and meticulous. To mince garlic or dice an onion, it would take her 5 minutes, but the pieces would be perfectly uniform. She doesn't like using a full-sized knife, which I also find frustrating. She does help with cleanup, although I'm big on cleaning as I go and not a fan of soaking stuff in the sink when it doesn't need to be soaked, which happens more than I like.

I love the two of you to death, but is there any aspect of your lives that isn't perfect? I mean, really!

Jim White , I read your post to Teresa and we both laughed. Man I gotta tell you there is a lot of failure that has and continues to exist in this house for sure….

Third time is the charm! I do probably 80% of the cooking indoors and out. We normally jump in and clean it up together. I do almost all the grocery shopping so we don’t end up with a bunch of off brand cheap stuff that taste different. I didn’t work 24 hour call in the oilfield for years to eat cheap stringy canned green beans. She is an incredible baker. There places we go where she knows she is expected to bring peanut butter or orange ginger cookies. We try to not cook any more than we can eat in a meal and one meal of leftovers. If there’s more than that it will get thrown out. I have fired up a kamado to cook two hamburger patties. We eat well and enjoy our arrangement.

Wife does most of the indoor cooking and baking. I occasionally do some but most of it is outside. She also fires up the gasser for grilled chicken if that’s what we’re doing that day. She doesn’t touch the smokers or turkey fryer.

Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
Outdoor cooks are mine. Our tastes are 180° out of phase. I won't bore with the details. Thanksgiving is hers. I sit back if she's asks me to do something, I'm there. Same for other family holiday gatherings which there's not a lot of. For the 2 of us, I cook for 1 as she does. There are things she makes that I love. Last week she made her stuffed cabbage. Her mother's recipe which she's perfected. Great meatloaf and yes, brisket in the slow cooker. After 50 plus years we've figure it out.

I do all the outdoor cooking and well north of 90% of the indoor cooking. I also clean as I go - if I have a few minutes of down time, I clean what I can. When we are done eating, she takes over and doesn't want any help. There are few things she likes to cook, and I let her cook 'em when she wants to. Sometimes she will let me help clean up after she cooks, and sometimes she won't. It works for us.

Married 52 years…things have evolved. Renee does 80% of the indoor cooking. I’m not nearly as creative as she can be. She loves to try recipes that look interesting, and she makes amazing salads. I’m more of a hack indoor cook, but I have a few specialties (chili, etc.). I do all the outdoor cooking. We split cleanup duties, but I seem to not meet her standards at times😂.

We split it pretty even, can’t say who does more as it changes week to week. I am a by the book recipe follower and she likes to improvise. I often have to avoid the kitchen when she’s cooking so I don’t criticize what she’s doing. We both are really good cooks and bakers. We have a good cleanup and school prep routine for the kids where we split cleanup pretty evenly.

I do almost all of the cooking. There are a few dishes that are the domain of Mrs Finster, but those are only done occasionally. She, or the kids, do most of the clean up. It works for us
