Now that this Smack Down is in the history books, it’s time for a few important, necessary announcements. Please, read them all carefully, especially if you have an entry in the competition.
- I sincerely hope everyone had fun with this friendly food fight. I am blown away at the number of participants and entries. It clearly shows a strong interest in this type of frivolity amongst such talented and creative members of the Pitmaster Club. I personally thank each participant, cheerleader, or provocateur. You’ve all been wonderful sports.
- A huge shout-out goes to many people, in particular, barelfly, for his infectious enthusiasm and palpable support of all participants. He exemplifies good sportsmanship during a heated competition where everyone is striving to achieve the same goal – culinary exceptionalism. As Dani Rojas said in the Ted Lasso series, “Tacos are life!”
- Another equally vociferous shout-out goes to Meathead for sponsoring the trophies. His generosity is peerless and clearly in support of a great cause for the AmazingRibs.com brand. Thanks Meathead, you’re the best!
- There were 29 participants and 44 entries made on the topic thread. You may ask, “How can that be?”, when the OP specified Give your best effort with one cook only. Admittedly, I could have been clearer with this instruction, but we must make adjustments to be fair to those who posted only one cook, whether due to time constraints or adherence to the request. Therefore, if you posted more than one cook during the competition, please PM me, which entry you wish to be judged by post number (Post numbers are found in the upper right corner of each post in a topic.) I will also PM each participant who has multiple entries to choose one.
- When Meathead agreed to sponsor the trophies, his only stipulations were that the competition be on the “up and up” and “we not get yelled at”. I accept full responsibility for meeting these two requirements but will need your cooperation on the second one, please. If there’s to be any yelling, kindly PM me with your beef (pun intended) and I will immediately forward it to Panhead John who put me in charge of this food fight. Leave Meathead and the mods out of this to ensure additional Smack Downs will be in the offing. Mea culpa.
- Last, but not least, the results of the Taco Smack Down will not be announced today, tomorrow, or even the next day but only after all the judges have reviewed the entries and submitted their evaluations. Please be patient.
