    Major Faux Pas X 2

Two faux pas in one day.

#1. Sunday's Dinner: So you can see my Beautiful Stuffed Roast Chicken with veggies, gravy and about 10 cloves of roasted garlic in the gravy to be taken out to spread on my homemade bread. And my first cook out in a while.

So, I grabbed the aluminum pan with pot holders to bring it in the house. There is 6 steps leading to my kitchen. At the top step the pot holder moves a little and the hot aluminum pan burns my hand a little. Enough for me to lose my grip and drop the whole aluminum pan at my kitchen entrance. Gravy and carrots everywhere and the chicken on the floor. So we scraped off the dirt and lightly washed the chicken.

I rushed to action and made a quick gravy with some chicken stock and the few remaining carrots and onions. Thickened it with corn starch. The meal was saved but served not as intended...

My wife and guests helped clean up while I was trying to salvage the situation.

I was soooo embarrassed. But my out of town visiting guests were indeed gracious as we didn't go hungry. So not the end of the world really.

Faux pas #2. Right before we were going to sit down to dinner I went to the bathroom. (just #1) As I reached to flush the toilet, my iPhone slips out of my shirt pocket and falls in the toilet...Thankfully only with yellow water. As you can guess I yelled the "F" word very loud!

Got some gloves and retrieved my phone. Cleaned it and it is still drying in a big bowl of rice. (we will not eat that rice).. In the meantime I do have a spare Android phone until my old phone works or I get a new iPhone...

The sad part I wasn't even drinking..I did shortly after though...lol

I know it wasn't funny when it happened, but it may be at some point in the future.

And I'm done eating yellow rice.

Dang, Troy, you saved that acrobatic feat for guests other than me? I feel slighted. ;-) If I would have been there, we'd have started drinking a lot earlier and you would have had an excuse. Keep it fun, brother!

Wow. I remember ruining a meatloaf in the PBC with no guests and could have hanged myself I was so ticked.

I have a good friend that thinks once something goes bad, you can change the course with positive thoughts. Personally, once the poop starts down hill it just keeps going down hill until it hits bottom.

Have you heard the corporate theory that "poop floats"?

It's based on the premise that poop traps air and thus becomes buoyant.
The larger the piece of poop you are, the higher you will float up the corporate ladder...

Looks like you're getting a lot of sympathy here, troymeister.

I'd definitely put that down as a Very Bad Day.
Salvaged chicken (your guests sound like great folks)
Salvaged phone (hope the rice save works.)

A good stiff drink was definitely in order. I hope it helped you smile a bit about about that black cloud that must have been hanging over you for those few hours.

All we can do is have a sense of humor about it. Who said being human is easy? Lol

Great story! Note to self: never transport food, especially cooked food, in the aluminum tray. Thanks for sharing, lol

iPhone update. The iPhone has definitely turned into a P phone. It’s definitely done for. So good news is my Dad is upgrading to the newest, latest and greatest iPhone. He is sending me his older iPhone 12. I’ll take it since the price is right. I almost got a new one through my carrier to the tune of over $700.00 over a couple years.

and lucky for you, Iphone 12 is P proof

It has a rating of “IP68” which means they are fully protected from dust and can handle being underwater for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 6 metres. If your phone gets dropped in a puddle, a shallow pool, or wet from the rain, it will be just fine.

Well at least your phone's death and subsequent new phone is your own fault, with a great accompanying story, instead of your carrier's bullying. Sigh...I went through the hassle of having to pay for and set up a new phone recently and it wasn't even my fault, and I got no good story out of the experience!

Huskee Yeah… All we can do is have a sense of humor about being human. We tried to laugh it off as best as possible. In the end, we were able to salvage the dinner and have a few laughs. I had a spare old Android phone to use in the meantime and my Dad is sending me his older iPhone. I’m thankful to be so fortunate.
