We made a stop in Charleston WV tonight because Chicago to home was 10+ hours and we got a late start. Lost an hour on time zone changes too.

Ate at a place called Tidewater, which specializes in seafood from Foley’s in Boston - crab, lobster, shrimp, scallops, etc.

My wife and I were fairly impressed with the preparation of our meals. The presentation, not so much. Regardless, I recommend this place if you’re traveling through WV.

We have two more places to visit in WV (short, touristy, stop) before heading home tomorrow. Pictures forthcoming.

Fun thread. As someone who lives close to Chicago it’s cool to see other people’s perspective of the Windy City . Nueske’s……..I haven’t been since I was a kid. My mom would make us stop on the way to our annual trip to Eagle River when I was kid. So thank you.

New River Gorge Bridge, from an overlook. This is the bridge that people flock to for bungee jumping. It’s roughly 900 ft. from the River to the bridge surface.

Tamarack visitor’s center, near Beckley. It’s a mashup of travel plaza and marketplace.

The marketplace sells all kinds of crafts made by local artisans, from pottery to furniture. It’s an incredible display of the skill and talent of WV craftsmen and craftswoman. I highly recommend stopping in if it’s on your route. The restaurant inside also serves above average, home cooked vittles.

Epilogue: Well, we’ve come full circle and it was a fun, relaxing trip. I played the part of AR brand ambassador so well while in WI, my cousin decided to join up. Look forward to some amazing cooks from @PrestonD.

It’s good to be back home. I sincerely appreciate all the thread followers and feedback during this cook/trip. Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco and I left my butt in Wisconsin.

Thanks John. I’m no Ansel Adams but I somehow manage to compose my pix well enough to convey the message. I’m hoping to go back up there mid-winter, just to experience extremely cold temperatures. It’s a perverted bucket list kinda thing. 🤪
