I live in southeast North Carolina where pulled pork and whole hog is the only kind of BBQ known. We also overwhelm any possible flavor of the pork with massive amounts of vinegar and pepper sauce. To me we 100% have the worst bbq in the world. I've deviated from all NC bbq ways and adapted Texas and KC barbecue methods and will never look back. My wife and I like to sit on the beach and dream about the "what if we did this" and a true Texas style beef barbecue spot is something we definitely need in our area. Considering the possibilities of a food truck type startup currently...

Clearly you have never tried the two kinds of bbq we have here in KY when you claim to have the worst bbq in the world.

Not all bbq joints in eastern NC smoke whole hog. One uses only shoulders. And not every one pulls the pork, some chop it, Wilbur’s being the best example. I’ve eaten at Scott’s, Griffin’s, Parker’s, Wilbur’s, King’s, Grady’s, and The Pit and never had the experience you describe. I’m not defending the abuse of sauces on smoked pork but I do wonder what informs your strong negative opinion.

Well bad bbq is better than good tofu, but I like all other forms of bbq I've eaten better than what our traditional is here. kinda like sushi. I know people that love it, but I don't

I like them both, and a lot has to do with my mood on any given day. But I lean toward pulled pork and probably make it slightly more.

For us, each is such a huge amount of meat that I rarely make either any more. Generally speaking, I prefer beef over pork, but I prefer pulled pork over pulled beef, and I prefer pork ribs over beef ribs.

But for just about any other comparison, beef wins.

I think Panhead John is going to back me up here, but the absolute best thing you will ever smoke is PULLED TOFU. It's the bomb, or at least PJ and I think so. We've both gone exclusively vegan for the past 5 minutes, and will be doing nothing but smoked and pulled tofu from here on out. He found a boxcar full of it on sale at HEB, and is shipping me a lifetime supply here in Alabama.

Pulled jackfruit is better. With shaved beet slaw, topped with baby clams.

Oh jeez! I’ll whip up some broccoli ice cream for dessert.

I tried some Chuck a while back and I have to say it was better then pulled pork. I like the richer taste. But pulled pork is better for me because of the diet or life style change....

Beef!!! My answer will always be beef. And I don't hate to say it.

"So what say you? Pulled chuck or pulled pork?" The answer is YES.
When you tire of one have the other
When you tire of the other have the one
For we know BBQ's best when the meat is done.

You know, now I'm going to have to practice my chuck cooking. I've done pulled pork more times than I can remember, and can pretty much get it right every single time now. I've tried pulled chuck a couple times and never really nailed it, so it not a fair comparison. But part of the reason is I eat so much beef cooked a lot of other ways that pulled chuck never made it into the regular rotation, but I mostly have a couple go-to methods on pork, mainly pulled butt and salt-cured belly.

Pork butt seems to be easier to find with good intramuscular marbling. I see a lot of chuck that's actually quite lean aside from some large fat veins and those don't work well done low and slow. Look for veins of fat throughout the chuck (you can get this with choice, you don't need prime/wagyu). Wrap at the stall (or in the stall). Take to probe tender

Why would I even want to choose? Have both!

Kim has had her gallbladder removed, when I cook it is always for the two of us or more.
I love both. Kim has issues w/pork. Have to vote True.

To interpret the question in its most literal form if I had a pile of pulled pork next to a pile of pulled beef, I’m going with the beef while the rest of my family goes with the pork. Once we start getting into the conversation of which one is better because of all the different things we can do with it, then the line gets far more blurry for me.

Had some pulled chuck in the freezer. Turned it into enchiladas for dinner.
                      Today beef wins 👍

This is like asking me if I prefer my Bronco over my WSM over my kettle over the Chimp. Depends on who is last. I thought I would get rid of the WSM until I took the RV out with it and smoked some ribs. I figured the Chimp would replace the kettle until I vortexed some wings. Favorite depends on the day, or as the esteemed fzxdoc said, new shoes or new shoes...
