So, there I was making my lunch - 2 SRF gourmet dogs, some homemade (from packaged stuff) chili, diced onions, yellow mustard and sharp cheddar cheese. Served on some sesame seed bun dog rolls from Costco. Scarfed one down, and then, the grey cells kicked in remembering this thread. Here is a very sloppy pic of the second one (drips and drops from the first one to adorn it).

The next grey cell senior moment: I'm walking around the kitchen, and I keep spotting these little dabs of chili on the floor. Wipe them up, and poof!!, there's another one. Then wham-o! I looked at my socks. You know the rest.

If you can get a hold of some Wolf Brand Chili, that’s the BEST I’ve found for hot dogs. Spicy/No Beans…..😁

Walmart carries it around here. Bought a can the last time you recommended it. The dang Wendy’s was a one-off. Sometimes almost free is not a good choice….

If you're a fan (or even if you aren't) of Chef Tom at All Things BBQ you might get a kick out of this: Hot Dog Cheese Steaks | Chef Tom X All Things Barbecue (youtube.com)

Might be one of those "be weird for the sake of being weird", but then again, in the inflationary climate we're in it might also be practical. Either way, enjoy.................

Oh man. That looks like a winner to me! In fact I think I might try that this weekend. I have all the ingredients and my Pit Boss Ultimate griddle is just crying for some love.

I don't hate this idea. I wasn't sure at first but once the onions and hot dogs were cooking it looked like it might be pretty tasty.

Americans consume more than 20 billion hot dogs each year, most of them during the summer months. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Americans eat an estimated 818 hot dogs every second, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.
