Got an email form Anova today with what seems a nifty plan if you've doing a bunch of wienies for a crowd. Sous vide your batch of wienies for one hour at 140 degrees and then put them on the fire to get some tasty looking grill marks. Seems like a nice method to get evenly cooked (and not over cooked) dogs ready to eat for the whole group in a narrow time window.

I grew up with wieners (pork based hot dogs). What a treat it was as a kid to have the extra $.25 to buy one at the AA ball park in the early 50’s. I can still hear the vendor going through the stands calling out “I got peanuts, popcorn, hotdogs, cold drinks.” I still favor them over franks.

Once my boys are out of school for the summer hotdogs become a staple for lunch/dinner…who are we kidding…breakfast. It’s hilarious to me because I can hardly get them to eat a dog between Sept and May, but once summer rolls around the folks at Costco must assume I’m hosting a weekly hot dog eating competition!Last edited by Santamarina; July 2, 2024, 05:00 PM.

National Hot Dog MONTH? Wow... well... I will say, that's better than some of the month designations we seem to have. lol
Glad to have an excuse, though I seldom eat hot dogs anymore. Mostly, they're pretty bland and I end up doing hot dogs for the family and doing bratwurst if I can find good ones, for me. If I can't find good ones, I buy Johnsonville and hold my nose. lol
