12 for me. Growing up in Chattanooga home of the Krystal burgers, I had them at all hours of the day and night. I think they are better than White Castles. Krystals used to serve eggs, waffles, grits etc on real plates. The interiors were all polished aluminum. Stools at the counter facing the griddle. Saturday breakfast at Krystal was a treat. Memories of eating at The Aluminum Room as my dad called it.

WSM 22.5", Pitmaster IQ110, Weber 22.5" Kettle with SNS, Weber 14" Smokey Joe.
One not on the list is a NC favorite, started in Raleigh, Char-Grill. One of my fraternity brothers was an owner until he sold his share a few years ago. He still has connections though and every year when the Alpha Sig Alumni get together for our annual Nags Head trip, he brings boxes of the burgers and dogs and cooks them in the parking lot of the motel on a big gas tow behind cooker. The burgers are big and juicy! Here's a link to Char-Grill if anyone is interested.

I ate at eight. I had my one and only from Red Robin just last Fall and it's near the top of this list for me.
It's probably nostalgia, but my all-time favorites are Foster Freeze and A&W. I had a girlfriend right after high school who was a car hop at A&W, and boy did she look cute in that outfit!

Weber Kettle 22; Broil King Signet; OKJ Bronco
On a related note, I've never heard of 7 of them.
And once upon a time, I would have ranked Big Boy near the top. And I recall liking Burger Chef as well, but don't remember much about it.

Not much of a fast food/burger joints fan here. I maybe have eaten at three, maybe four on the list. To me it's a lot like Wal-Mart. I only go there if there is absolutely no other choice. That said there is one I would drive to if it they weren't so far. Blakes Lot a Burger, found pretty much only in the southwest has the best green chili hamburger I have ever had, including those I make myself. I found them in Albuquerque in a previous life and forty five years later found one again on a trip to Arizona six or seven years ago. I'd thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

Grilla OG Pellet Cooker 🦍
Grand Prize Weiner: Blaze 3 Burner LP Grill 🙂
I have been to 13 of these restaurants plus a few local places that would never make the list like "Burger Box" in Arlington, Tx and "SS Burger Basket" here in Lake Elsinore.
As far as chains go, Carl's Jr, is fairly tasty. I will still eat at Wendy's on a rare occasion, but they have gone way downhill over the years. The burger they hand you is kind of small, and sad. 😕
We went to a Red Robin on a whim not too long ago. I thought their bbq burger was very good, so we will probably go there again. If I go to In and Out, I will get the burger wrapped in lettuce, which is a nice option.
There is a pub in our downtown called, "Main Street Kitchen and Tap," that makes a good smash burger, and there is a pretty cool little place in Old Town Temecula called, "Mad Madelines." I am sure there are other burger places around Old Town, but for some reason, I am drawn to this one, and I always get a parking spot there. It is pricey, though.
