    Burger Week 2025

    It's that time again.

It did not start off well.

Pretzel Bacon Cheddar Burger - Sweet Home Bar & Grill

    What's on it...
House-made soft pretzel bun, all-beef Angus patty, topped with thick-cut bacon in cheese sauce.
    What they say...
Our burger is inspired by the giant soft pretzel we all love, with our favorite sauce accompaniment (a bacon heavy cheese sauce). This pretzel bun is light, truly soft, and not overly dense.

This one was disgusting, I almost tossed it in the garbage. In the end, I scraped off as much nasty cheese sauce as I could and ate the patty reluctantly. Everything else went into the trash.

    1/10

What was wrong with the cheese? On paper I agree it sounds incredible. Even your pic looks wonderful.

It just wasn't there flavorwise, like something was off. Same with the bun. I didn't even like their house made pickles. To top it off, the patty was over-salted too. This was surprising to me because we have come to like that little dive bar because their food, including past Burger Week offerings, has always been good.

In my pic, you can't see all the overflow cheese behind the burger. They did not skimp on the cheese sauce. Too bad it sucked.

I am guessing a Velveeta cheese sauce with salty bacon must be pretty bad.

STEbbq Yes, it was somehow manageable. I scooped it up in the paper it came in and ate half and passec the rest to my wife. Believe it or not it wasn't the messiest burger so far.

This was pretty incredible with the katsued beef patty. My only complaint was slightly too much sauce, but everything else was on point. 9/10

The Sloppy Papí - Wonderboy's Smokestack

          What's on it...
Fresh ground brisket patties stuffed with sweet pepper cream cheese, rubbed n' rolled in mustard and black pepper. Cold-smoked, then griddle seared, slathered in jalapeño jelly and cowboy crack, with a bed of crispy fried onions, all on a Dos Hermanos pub bun. For an additional $10 we'll slap a slab of succulent, smoky brisket on there, too, making it a burgourmand's delight.

          What they say...
If a Juicy Lucy and a jalapeño popper had a baby, it would grow up into this monstrosity of an adult, the Sloppy Papí.

This food cart sells one of my all-time favorite tacos. It's a BBQ taco with mango habanero sauce wrapped in fried cheese. I've been a repeat customer for years now. When I rolled up, I could smell the post oak. He saw us first and said hello as he was pulling the patties out of the smoker. This monster gets a 9.5/10

            The Kaldereta - Lo's Burgers

            What's on it...
A Filipino beef stew reduction sauce, made by our new neighbors at Sunrice, drizzled on a classic Lo’s Burger with pickled veg, served on a Dos Hermanos brioche bun

            What they say...
We teamed up with our new neighbors over at Sunrice to bring a one-of-a kind burger to all of y’all’s pallets! Kaldereta is a savory beef stew that’s tomato, fish sauce, and beef liver pate based. The genius chefs of Sunrice were able to turn this beautiful dish into a sauce that we have the privilege of serving on our burger. And you have the privilege of consuming for one week only! You do not want to miss this!

Attjack $10!?!?!?! Are they slider sized or full size? As in a 5-7 ounce patty? Do the promoters of this event subsidize the restauranteurs?

SheilaAnn They're full-sized burgers, and some are pretty huge, a few were on the small side though. These events do a great job at giving these restaurants exposure. I probably would have never set foot in Sweet Home Bar and Grill if it wasn't for them participating in this event. I'm going to give them a pass on their failure this year because every other time I've gone I have been impressed. In fact, we're planning on trying their taco Tuesday soon.
