How do you order your burgers?

After having food poisoning twice in my life I want my burger well done, no pink at all. I have been known to slice mine in half to make sure it’s done. Steaks are a totally different deal. Medium rare, as long as the center is warm I’m all in.

"As rare as they feel comfortable serving me". One time the server came back and told me the cook smiled when she told him this. It was at a local(to where I hunt) bar. Great burgers...I absolutely HATE an overcooked burger.

Medium, because I can't KNOW how the meat was prepped, handled etc and anyway, I don't like rare burgers. If I want rare meat, I get something like steak diane. It's not a doneness thing (I do steaks medium rare) it's a texture thing.

I'll add this - if they don't ask, I don't tell. That's a Red Robin burger coming up, which I don't do anyway. That would be rolling the dice. In a good burger joint, If they ask and if I say pink inside it almost always works.

Med-rare for burgers, if they bitch I may order something else. Which is why we don't go out very often as the food is usually overcooked.

When I go out it is almost always because I am traveling for work or to get a local specialty. If specialty, I go by what they reccomend.

For burgers medium and medium rare for steaks . I think that you get a little bit more flavor from the grill or griddle on a burger with the extra few degrees .
