    Pop-Up: 2022 National Cheeseburger Day Show Off Page

    As FireMan pointed out yesterday, today, September 18. 2022, is National Cheeseburger Day here in the USA. Let's make it an international affair on AR. If you cook a cheeseburger today, post your pix here.

    IMHO, the only rules should be:

    1) It has to be in the shape of a burger (round and flat - the diameter has to exceed the thickness) but it can be made from any ground food ingredients (beef, pork, seafood, beans, etc),
    2) It has to have cheese or cheese product of some sort on or in it.
    3) If you don't like the rules, make up your own.

    Any and all food toppings are allowed so let's have some fun!

    Disclaimer: No prizes awarded unless Panhead John wants to donate a case of PBR.

    Hell of an idea Wayne! I’m gonna do either smash cheeseburgers or use my kettle for Texas Style Cheeseburgers [whatever that means]

    This is a fortuitous day today!

    I had already planned to do smashburgers on the griddle. I've got some friends coming over, we're doing a small group to honor a great friend who is a minister at our church and has been an Associate Pastor there for 8 years, handling all of the running of the facilities - he also supervised our new $3M expansion project for our children and youth, and now that we just opened it up last week, he is leaving!

    It's actually a good thing - at 68 years old, he is starting a new career - as a teacher! He has a heart for ministry and a passion for changing the lives of children and youth, and many of us don't like the things we see going on in mainstream public education and society, so he is putting his money where his mouth is, and he is stepping up to be an example and a moral, Christian role model for our kids. I, for one, couldn't be prouder!



    In addition, today is ALSO my wife's BIRTHDAY! And smashburgers are one of her favorite things I do, so I have to oblige!


    1. National Cheeseburger Day

    2. Celebrate the departure and new career of one of my best friends, the minister.

    3. The Wife's birthday! Happy Birthday to my lovely, beautiful, tolerant, patient, understanding and incredibly genius wife - The Dr./Mrs.-Dr. Wife! Yup, she is, too!


    Gonna be a balmy 98ºF here with a heat index of 102ºF+ or so. <sigh> We'll see if we can stand it outside, we may have to adjourn indoors so I'll be the only one sweatin' out on the griddle! lol

    If there are no rules then I'm posting this smash burger I made on Friday.

    2 x 3oz patties 70/30 Cheddar cheese sauce with jalapeno slices
    Homemade maple syrup bacon
    2 slices American cheese
    Toasted bun with homemade BBQ sauce and fresh fine chopped onion.

      Just curious. Which blue cheese did you use above? Personally I’m a Stilton fan but any blue cheese will do in a pinch.

      Donw this was point Reyes bleu. I also love Stilton. Another favorite is Maytag bleu (Ohio or Iowa, can’t remember which).

      100% self-ground sirloin cap/coulette/picanha.
      Sliced Gouda. LTO. Mustard and ketchup. Homemade bacon.

      300g, came out perfectly med rare.

      Bacon and Cheddar Chuck burger with White American cheese on a Hawaiian bun. Served with Borracho beans.

      Smoked on Silverback at 225 then seared at 600 on grill grates.

      Aww man, this turned out so good! Smash burger with onions, bacon, jalapeño, Pepper Jack cheese and to top it off…a fried egg. I’ve gotta do this more often, the fried egg was such a bonus!

      Well, I did mine - but way WAY too hot out and I was way WAY too busy cooking for everyone to take any pics. Sowwy.

      I did about... I dunno, at least 40 smashburger patties, sautéed onions, Hatch chiles and around 8-10 fried eggs for those who wanted 'em.


      It was good, but you'll just have to take my word for it this time - I gots no evidence. That's the bad part of being the 'go to guy' for cooks like this, I was so hot and sweaty (I think it was 97ºF with a heat index of about 105ºF while I was griddling), when I was done, I sat and drank some tea for at least 30-45 minutes while everyone else was enjoying the hot, fresh burgers.
