Best way to reheat a steak?

I know, I know....how on earth do I have steak leftovers? Well, I totally misjudged how much skirt steak I needed for the quesadillas tonight so I now have this ~0.5 lb piece of leftover skirt.

So what has worked for you? The outside already nicely charred, so I am a little wary of doing it on the stove top. (And I assume the microwave is straight out of the picture.)

That leaves the oven or pellet grill. I've got my Thermoworks Smoke I can use. One thing I do have going for me is that I grilled these to about 130 F, which is slightly less done than what I would like. If the oven is a good idea....what temp do I use? 300 F? 400?

Sounds like time for a big platter of nachos.

Either vacuum seal or double bag with zipper bags and toss it in warn water. Don't let the water get any hotter than the original temp you were shooting for.

This is the answer. With some sweet potatoes and jalapenos. Yum.

I would not reheat it to eat as a steak or try to cook it in the oven. With leftover steak, I like to cube but a give a quick sauté to just warm up slightly and use in a taco/quesadilla/nacho or hash form

with skirt it's nachos or an omelet or something. If it was a thicker steak and medium rare you have more options. Or just nuke the thing and enjoy the flavor even if it's overdone the second time around

I am noticing a trend here!

Okay, I'm thinking my tactics will change. Chopped up for tacos tomorrow for lunch it is. Might even do steak and egg tacos.

Quick reheat in the skillet for steak and eggs, cold on a steak salad, chop and use for fried rice or tacos.

What’s wrong with the micro wave? Warm it since it’s seared & use it however you want it. Yer just gettin it a little warm. Put a little bowl/glass of water & yer ok.

It would either hit the microwave with a couple eggs for breakfast or head to work in my lunch box.

When rewarming steak or similar cuts, I usually don't shoot for "hot off the grill" temps. Normally I reheat (microwave, warm water, gentle heating in a skillet) only enough to take the chill off.

Don’t bother. Just slice it thin and use it as lunch meat for steak sandwiches: soft crusty bread, sharp cheese, and grainy mustard ought to make it an all star.

Or just eat it cold. We do that with leftover tri-tip regularly.

I'll join the pro-microwave crowd. But like IowaGirl says, just a little, to get the chill off it, if it's a fine piece of meat.

I have no idea why I got stuck in this oven mode of thinking last night. It's a skirt steak. It's thin on its own; moreover, I'm going to be slicing it thin!

A moment or two in a pan over medium heat was all it needed!

Well, I would vacuum seal. Next time I did ribs throw them in the pot to boil with the ribs.
