I'm getting ready to mix up a batch of the kc bbq sauce and realized I have no molasses, this is the first time making this sauce, should I add a little extra brown sugar? or just leave it out??? any suggestions appreciated

Brown sugar is nothing more than white sugar with molasses mixed in. I'd suggest sticking to the recipe (minus molasses) then taste the result. If it needs to be sweeter, you can add a little more brown sugar in until it tastes right.
