What no Fireball? I'm going to Total Wine Saturday for supplies as well. We should have a nice tasting only if you do pace yourself.

Panhead John - Looking forward to next week! Other than Thursday evening's dinner at Mezcal, are we on our own for making reservations for other meals, or will there be group reservations for the other meals?

theroc You’re very welcome! I enjoy doing this…and I’m really appreciative of you folks who travel a great distance to come to our little shindigs! [most of the attendees just slip me a C-note under the table] 😂😆

Unfortunately life has reared it's head and I am going to have to back out. I hate to miss this epic event but stuff happens. Maybe in the spring.

I'm going to follow with another weenie out! I'm old, guys, and I've bit off more than I can chew with the 10/26 cater job. I can't back out of that. I am truly very, very sorry not to be there.

I am looking at what I need to put in car to bring. I have an older regular vac sealer, the stick sort (chamber boy is too big and heavy) and a roll or two of bag stuff. Anyone is welcome to use. I figured I could freeze leftovers, or purchases, in hotel fridge/freezer, and I have one of those coolers that plug into car socket, so I can keep cold on the drive home.

Is anyone interested in utilizing the grill at the hotel? I'm happy with restaurants serving me, but if anyone is going to try out the grill there (it's listed in hotel amenities) I will also bring one or both of my press things I posted in the cast iron thread last weekend. They need some good greasy cooks to get them "seasoned" right, but of course, you have to give them back at the end!

Panhead John The grill at the last San Marcos meetup worked really well, though. It’s going to be hit or miss.

Mosca Yeah, I’m just not a fan of cooking at the MeatUps I guess. Most of us cook so much at home, I’m ready to let others deal with the preparation and cleanup at these things. I rarely eat out, so when I get there I’m ready to be spoiled. 😋

Panhead John Kim has been watching temps and noticed there is rain forecast midday Sat thru Sun.

This will not be a prob for the Gator boat, will it? Just sayin'.

Not a problem Bruce. I’d already been checking the weather daily for a week. When I saw the chance of rain being so high, I called em this morning to let em know we might need to cancel. I’ll have a better handle on more info. in the morning.

If we need a possible backup, there’s another swamp tour company that has airboats. I’ll call them and see if they have anything open for Friday, if needed.

McGee's Swamp Tours immerses guests into the Atchafalaya Basin by offering swamp tours and airboat tours that are entertaining, eco-sensitive and educational.

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE! I have re-booked us for Friday at 11:30 am for the swamp tour, same place just a different day.

Not wanting to take a chance on getting rained out Saturday, we’ll go Friday instead. We need to be there around 11am or so, to give everyone a chance to pay and or use the restroom. On site they have a great little lunch spot called Turtle’s Bar and Grill. I figured we could eat there right after the tour ends at 1 pm if you want. They don’t open till 11 am so we wouldn’t have time to eat before the tour. Supposedly their food is pretty good! I’ll post their menu here……

I'm nearly there, not sure where i am actually. Stopped at a comfy Holiday Inn Express last night, a sign in lobby says Welcome to the Big Easy. So. I will have a vehicle, a rather pedestrian SUV that, once I unload, can handle a front seat shotgun, and two in back seat. Three if you suck it in. On my way.

The Big Easy? That’s New Orleans! If you’re in New Orleans you added a lot of time to your drive. 🤷‍♂️

Attention all NON-TEXANS…. Each Pit Member attending who is NOT a resident of Texas will get a 20 pack of H-E-B’s world famous buttery flour tortillas! I just picked em up today, they were made in-house this morning. The Texans in attendance can get em any time they want, so there. 🥸 They can be refrigerated for a few weeks if needed, or you can vac-seal and freeze them when you get home.

Got the car detailed, oil changed, and I'm ready for the road and this happened:

Click image for larger version Name:	2013_Caddy_damage.jpg Views:	0 Size:	3.24 MB ID:	1781130

Cosmetic only, everything still works except for the wiper so I'll still be there. I can carry a few people if anyone needs a ride to the restaurants and such.

Oh yeah: We have been rather dry here for the past month so naturally it rained when I had the car detailed.

Uncle Bob Can you fix this real quick while we're in Lafayette?
